Halloween has triumphed over Twilight

So Edward has fallen! Tracy laughed that Halloween was his great undoing. I was disappointed, and surprised that he fell off the wall rather than being ripped down. However he is still in a pile on Tracy's office floor. I plan on waiting a few more days and sticking him back up with a new message. I'm also not entirely sure what my ultimate plan is, but with the new Twilight movie coming out there should be some new posters released and I am hoping to find a Jacob one. Perhaps I'll put both up and they can stare at her from different sides and she'll be able to decide if she's team Jacob or team Edward. I'm amazed we've managed to live together this long without killing each other. But I know secretly she likes the poster. And the card...

Now that I've updated the tv viewing experience we've discovered the Frames channel. It freaks me out a little bit, but it is basically a screensaver with "soothing" music on the tv. 24/7. With rotating pictures of all sorts of themes. I'm astonished that this could be a real channel. Where does the money for this come? Do all the old people sit and watch the mostly pretty pictures rotate all day long? And how much is it really costing me? The things that people can come up with.

My Dad finally made it to the heart specialist. He did all the testing and spend his day at the hospital. Only to be told that he's healthy. And that he needs to chew more thoroughly. That's all. He did give the doctor a good day because he rarely gets to tell people that everything is good and you can go now. I'm not too surprised by the results but it is good to know that he isn't going to drop dead one of these days. It would be a little depressing for him, having been retired for a year and that's it.

Happily, there have been no more cat encounters. I have seen new orangy a few times but not when I've been outside. I'm saddened that the neighbours are still letting the cat run wild but happy that I don't have to directly deal with it.

I'm ready for vacation now. Work has been tiring. I've become the floater girl. I fill in whenever we have someone on vacation, which happens a lot. So I've been mixing for the last few weeks. It's tiring. I haul heavy bags of flour to the mixer, add water (now it's heavier) and then lug it out of the mixer. All day long. Day after day after day. It's really tiring. And I still have another week of this left. The one nice thing is that the more I do this job the better I get. When I just do it once, maybe twice a week you don't get much of a flow. It's like coming to work and having to relearn it all over again. And it is really nice knowing that my shift is exactly the same for almost an entire month.

My door issues have all been dealt with. I have found the elusive sash lock. And installed it on the door. It was ultimately so easy to find. It's such a change to go to a store and show the employee a piece and have them know exactly what it is, and what it is used for. The first place knew it but didn't sell them. 5 minutes later I was off to another store who did have them. And it was only 20 bucks. What a steal of a deal. But hopefully the house should be a little warmer this year now that the exterior doors aren't going to be letting my precious warm air escape.

Halloween was a little strange around here this year. I was excited that work ordered way too many pumpkins and ended up giving them away on Halloween so I did have a carved pumpkin. Usually we'll get maybe 20 kids. So I bought candy for about 30. And 42 showed up. I'm not sure how many more were out there as I turned the lights off a little after 8 so I could go to bed. But that was a record. And it wasn't even that the weather was especially nice, it was warmer in years past. Perhaps this year was the year of not going to the mall. And maybe kids are realizing that you can get more, and better, candy with a little extra work.
