It's raining, it's pouring...

It's always a little bit sad when it pours on both of my precious days off. The cats were quite perturbed. Cate spent most of her time sulking on the window and staring at me. I did go see Eclipse. Was surprised that I was probably one of the younger ones seeing it. Wasn't really impressed. They strayed from the book a lot. And the shooting was weird. Either close up or blurry... But I did get out of the house away from the rain so that was nice. And my house is looking impressively clean.

I did finally tackle the dreaded basement. I still don't think that I should be allowed to have a space solely devoted to storing my extra crap. I fill it up well. Granted I do use up quite a bit of space for my sewing area, but it still doesn't justify the piles of crap taking up space elsewhere. But my last attempt was me putting things away. And things that didn't have a home ended up in a pile in the middle of the room. The pile was impressively large. I conquered the pile and it is no more. It evolved into 3 bags of recycle, 3 bags of garbage and 5 boxes to give away. How sad that I have been keeping all that in a giant pile. But now that I have cleaned up I have some real space to get started on the next quilt project. Which I have had intentions for quite some time. But didn't have the time or the space. Now I have less excuses.

I will admit I did have some inspiration for getting the basement tidied. A few weeks ago my dad took an extra long weekend from work. And during those days decided to retire. Just like that. Shocked the hell out of us all. In a few weeks he has quite the list of plans. Foremost of those is to buy a fancy trailer and go on road trips. Like old people. So it looks like I will get to start living out at their house for random chunks of time while they are venturing to new places. But he did say that now that he will have time this winter, with the whole not having a job thing, that he could help us finish the basement. By help I mean he will find us relatively cheap people to do it for us. And since the final construction on Hawkstone is finishing up right now there are lots of trades in the area that might be willing to help us out in the basement. But I was informed that the basement will have to be cleaned out so that people can get in. So I think that I am going to get him to price it out and we might have ourselves a fancy basement this winter. Now we just have to decide what we want downstairs. My dad is trying to convince us to have a swanky bathroom. If we do that I might just move downstairs...

conquering the basement, movie theatre time!, my family is crazy, house insanity
