This weekend sucks so far.

I finally don't have to work anymore, but I don't have anything ELSE to do, either.

I got to work around 4:30 Saturday, after watching a lot of the Live 8 London show online. The chick I was relieving, Courtney, was completely overwhelmed, as she was really the only one writing and she had to watch like 5 concerts at once to do so. My boss had come up with the brilliant idea (I'm being sarcastic) of sending out hour-by-hour bulletins via e-mail to our stations. (That's how we deliver our product anyway -- we also post our stuff to a web site that Westwood One hosts -- but it sucks ass). That's not the smartest idea when you consider that NO ONE IS AROUND for the weekend, and especially since it's a holiday weekend. So these folks are gonna check their e-mail come Tuesday, and find 10,000 from us. Meanwhile I believe it would have been much smarter to do hourly updates (if that had to happen) to the web page. I would have just e-mailed a final wrap-up. ONE e-mail. But what the fuck do I KNOW, anyway? I've only been working there for nearly 9 years, doing the SAME FUCKING JOB...

Sasha kicked ass in London. She managed to get an audio feed of what was happening, to us. What's better is that Bono said hello to her in the press area. I'm sure I've mentioned a bunch of times that she's from Dublin -- she's ran into Bono many times there, as when he's home, he doesn't hide. She used to work for the media in Dublin, so their paths crossed frequently. She now goes on to cover a festival in Ireland called Oxegen (http://www.oxegen.ie/home/) in a few days, where she's due to interview my Foo Fighters, among others. Other bands on the bill include: Green Day, Audioslave, The Killers, Queens of the Stone Age, New Order...

Speaking of other countries, I finally got two passport pictures taken on Friday, and I'll submit my application at the Times Square post office on Tuesday. When Sasha and I talk about her home in Ireland, I really would like to see it for myself. And of course I'd have a great tour guide. :o) But where I REALLY want to go is London. I can't really explain the yearning have to go to that country. It's been calling me for years.

travel, sasha, work
