Following the lead of
sarapada, I'm
.
1. Exercise.
Accomplished. I got myself a gym membership while in McMinnville, and I walk my dog about 2 miles a day, each day.
2. Eat healthier.
Um, only sometimes. I ate too much salad at camp, so I'm kind of burned out on it right now. However, I've eaten a lot of things that I usually eat with butter, plain, so I'm doing better.
3. Procrastinate less.
It depends on how I feel about the thing I need to do. Lately, I've been doing well, calling my freshman charges and work, checking up on my medication and such...but there have been times.
4. Sleep more.
Hahaha...
5. Practice much more.
I practiced hardcore while at camp, but that's camp, and I needed to practice during third and fourth weeks. I wonder if I can keep that up?
6. Study more.
Yes, I did that. I studied quite a bit more. I'm also beginning to study for the GRE, which I'm taking in October.
7. Keep my temper with Charlotte.
Nope. Didn't, and won't ever, happen.
8. Be more open to new things.
Often I am; for example, today I went to lunch with my mom and her friend Kathy, and my mom got this cranberry-ginger juice. I gave it a try (something I normally wouldn't do because I don't like cranberry juice) and really enjoyed it. I've started listening to different music (i.e. R&B [not a favorite] and more jazz), and eating different foods and trying different drinks at work (all decaf! I'm off caffeine!)
9. Try one new recipe a week (taken from
sarapada).
Nope.
10. Read more (nothing like Cosmo, either...something intellectual).
I've done so; I made a summer reading list and I've been sticking to it. Right now I'm actually READING The Divine Comedy, and Love in the Time of Cholera, and I'm enjoying them both. It's easier to read The Divine Comedy when I don't have to for a class. Love in the Time of Cholera is addictive. It's difficult to get into, but it's an amazing work. However, we did read Cosmo aloud to one another while at camp; it's highly amusing to hear other people read the filthy articles in that magazine.
11. Write more.
Hasn't really happened. I wrote a lot in a journal while at camp, and also quite a few letters (mainly to former campers who wrote me [thank you, Chloe {
misbellarose}]), but that's about it.
12. Leave my apartment more often.
I did that, except at the end of the year when I was totally stressed and in a crappy mood from studying and dealing with Charlotte.
13. Spend less money. A LOT less money.
I successfully spent less money this past semester and part of the summer. I overspent in Hawaii, but I was on vacation, so it's forgiveable. I know I'm going to overspend in Europe, but it's Europe. And Lindsay's 21st birthday is three days after I get back to school, so I have to get her something cool. :)
14. Be more responsible (i.e. doing things right away, like calling my doctor or keeping on top of my bank statements).
YES! I am so more responsible now than I was earlier in the year. I called the education dept. today because I still don't have a placing for part-time student teaching, and I called Starbucks Payroll Dept. because I haven't gotten a paycheck (bastards...) for the time I worked right before I went to camp.. I balanced my checkbook tonight, and am working on cleaning my room. I've been totally anal about balancing my checkbook, too. Well done, me.
Overall, I think I'm doing well.
