I emailed my friend Jessica who lives in MS with the link of the Mayor venting about Bush. her reply.
i told her how i was pissed at bush and all of that, but she really made me understand some things. Worry about politics later, help people NOW.

I have heard this and I understand what he is saying, but I can guarantee you that most of the people don't give a shit who's fault it is. They just want help, period. My friends Jessica, Justin, Adam, Kristen, Kyle, "Moose", Danielle, Anthony, Jarmon, Ron, Rebecca, Nate, Shorkley, Richard, Tim, and Kathy... none of them give a shit.. they just don't have houses and a few them don't know if they have families. My friends Ron, Erin, and Erin who are all from New Orleans they don't care either (and no they aren't all Bush supporters..trust me).
It really irritates me that you send me an email trying to prove to me how enraged everyone down here is at Bush and trying to show me how bad the situation is. HELLO MELISSA!! I LIVE HERE!!!! I am the one that has no gas to drive my car.. I am the one that can't use my cell phone to call out because all of the towers are down. I am the one that have friends staying at my apartment because they go to school on the coast and have no school to go. I am the one that didn't get a call from home until 2 days ago because the power was still out. For me, and most of the people that have been affected by this.. this isn't a political thing or a race thing. This is a desperation thing. This is a situation where rather than the people who just sit on their couch and get news blips complain about the different administrations lack of interest or concern... rather than people whining and bitching about the govt.. those people should just come down here and experience it and when someone whines and bitches about the government then they will have too many other things on their mind to think about the lack of the governments concern. The Mayor is bitching about the government because he IS the government. So, I don't blame his frustration in that regard.
Fuck the government... How about the citizens of the United States help too. I am sorry I am venting all of this at you because I know you do care about the situation here, but it just kind of bugged me that the first thing you asked me is if i was alright.. then the second comment you made was about the President. People down here are DEAD!!! People down here don't have houses, cars, money, gas, power.. and you are worried about the President. What about the people!?!! I guess that is my point. So many people are so concerned with what the government ISNT doing that they are forgetting about just how bad it is down here. And as far as people not wanting that interview with the mayor to get out... well it is a little late because it has been all over the news stations around here. He is desperate.
My heart breaks for him. My heart breaks for the people in his city. The heart breaks for the people in my State. My heart is just simply broken to think that these are MY PEOPLE down here walking around the streets without homes. These aren't people in Haiti or Thailand or even in New York (when you live in the South sometimes LA and NYC seem like ages away). These are people that Ive grown up around. I have so many family members in Louisiana and the new orleans area. That is where my mom is from.. my granny is from. Many many many family members are still there and I know that area like the back of my hand. The MS Gulf coast is a place where I used to go every summer. I would say 3/4s of my friends here at school are from there. These are my people that have been fucked by this storm. I worry more about them and how I can help them than the government because regardless of the who President is... Bush, Clinton, Carter, Regan.. Mississippi and Louisana haven't exactly been main points of interest in their agendas. So I just don't really give a fuck about what hte government is doing at this point because it isn't like any of them .. Republican or Democrat have given a flying fuck about little ole Mississippi and Louisana before.
Anyway, sorry for the super long vent... I just get tired of people trying to make this political rather than just getting off their asses and helping. I love you though. Lots. And I know youre doing your part.
