I've gotten into a habit of not really checking in to LJ for long long stretches it seems. But I thought I'd drop a line here to scribble out an update.
- I am no longer employed at Walgreen's Photo Lab. No sirree. It was a good place and had some good times, but a friend gave me an opportunity for a job in one of Comcast's call centers that pays ~35% more per hour and offers free premium cable and broadband. So now I'm a phone jockey, and I like it so far. The day goes by quick on the phones all day, it feels nice when you can help someone out of a tight spot, and I get entertaining scenarios like the 81 year old woman who spent 10 minutes calling me a servant of the Devil and a racist... because we don't carry phone books. Good times, that.
- I had a date for the first time in... 5 years. And 2 years since I even bothered trying to ask anyone out. By the end of the evening I knew via gut feelings that there wasn't gonna be a second date; but where in the past I would've been disappointed by that... I dunno, something about getting back out after so long was re-energizing. The following weekend I went out around town a bit, and figure I should do more such activities. Which will sound a mite contradictory with section 3, but such is.
- I still play Video Games way too much, recently picked up both Spore and Warhammer Online in the same week. Spore is fun, but while the first three stages were such that I died a few times and had to re-think my strategies and re-shape my creatures, thus making them fun and engaging, the Civilization stage was... disgustingly easy. Made a fleet of airships armed with Bible-Guns and rained zealotous death on the other cities, and forced them all to the path of my Religion. Beat the stage on my first try, and was disappointed by it. I haven't gotten too deep into the Space stage yet, but I hear good things.
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning ("WAR") reminds of of when I first started playing World of Warcraft, before fatigue and ennui and guild drama turned me off of the game forever: It oozes depth and detail and I get a very real sense of backstory and history, and it's been really fun to play so far. I like how the PVP element is integrated INTO the game for the most part instead of being an add-on, and how each faction has it's own unique classes and look. Plus the Greenskin's useage of blue-collar British accents is hilarious. Only downside is my rig is too old and weak to play the game effectively. My pretty-boy goth-elf, oops Dark-Elf, Sorceror keeps hitting lag spikes and waking up in the midst of about 4-5 Dwarfs bashing the anorexia out of him. Plans for an overhaul have commenced.
- I am working here and there on script ideas for a short story. Don't wanna say too much because I have a long history of getting all-aFIRE for a creative endeavor then letting it slough into the gutter after a few weeeks, but so far so good.
And that's me up to now.
