XDDDDD You're back! Helloooo SQUISHY~ :D Nikki here. I haven't exactly been corresponding or been very much in the realm of the... err, not living, but rather, anyone who actually spends a sensible amount of time awake when it's light out. D: I make myself sound like a vampire. Sorry darling, work and exams and post-exam relief settled in and I've rarely corresponded with anyone. However, I recently got a new journal in an effort to purge my completely trollish habit of lurking around comms with the old journal; also, a couple of people I know IRL who I'd much rather avoid have gotten hold of my other journal account's URL, so I decided to jump-ship ^_^ So, this is my new journal right now. I hope you don't mind me adding you back!

Shiiiiit. It's been a long time. I missed you! Oh my god. I want to hear everything from you if you're not too busy! RAWR, I missed my corresponding buddy and favourite ShikaNeji author ): Let me know how things are with you alright??? *hugs* *HUGS* *HUGGLES* >_< At least lemme know if you're alive. I'm ( ... )

NIKKI~~~~~~~~~~! *glomp cuddle hug flail wave*
*and then wonders why I was called SQUISHY*

I just had the thought, "Oh my god! It'll take SO long to catch up with Nikki! I should call her!" And then I remembered, you know... Singapore. D: Whoops. @_@

Don't worry! You warned me that you were gonna disappear for a few months for school. =D So I knew. ^_^ Everything's all good? You doing better? You could, you know... respond to e-mails. XD Don't we have a ridiculously long e-mail or two sitting around somewhere? Or is it actually my turn???

Hey, I meant to ask... when I was in Japan, the closest, dearest, most wonderful friend I made was Singaporean, so being around her made me wonder-- do you speak Singlish? XD

D: Awman. Eh heh heh, the cat's outta the bag! Yes, Singlish peppers my speech sometimes, but a lot less than it does for most Singaporeans (what I've been told at least). Eh heh! Well, it's just a national trait of sorts. It's kinda what makes us stand out a lot overseas la. XD It happens because our country's just so bloody multi-cultural and everyone speaks a different dialect or mother tongue, so everything just gets thrown in the blender :/

HEE. I am sure that I have that email somewhere, but it might take me awhile to dig it out AND reply it (yes, it was ridiculously long, because neither of us seem to be the "person-of-few-words" type. X) I'm thinking it might be my turn? But I'm not sure... hee hee, I'll let you know! Well, squishy sounded slightly more... endearing than slimy or whatever else rhymed with that :X

XD Do you dislike Singlish? Why were you all "D: Awman." about it? XD;;; I like Singlish! It's so fun~

*lol* I see, I see. XD What on earth where you trying to rhyme to?! Squishy, slimy...? O_o;;;;; XD

Well, I'm learning to gradually condense e-mails a bit. ^^;;; The conversationalist in me hates the idea, as she loves to make every topic go as in-depth as possible, but the practical part of me likes to remind that there are only so many hours in a... year. D:

Hahaha, hmmm, not really liking Singlish is correct XD I'm fine with it, I guess, but I try to avoid speaking it too much, because it generally has the tendency to mess with the way I write. So, yeah, not favourable yeah. Singlish as a whole has got to be the most... varied, way of speaking that I know of. No other common-sensical language I know incorporates a jumble of 4 languages and a couple of dialects and still manages to mash them all into one sentence. Seriously XD Did you have trouble understanding Singlish the first time you met that Singaporean friend of yours? I've heard that people from abroad generally have a little trouble understanding what Singaporeans are trying to say in, like, the first 5 minutes of conversation or something XP ( ... )

*lol* You should write a ficlet entirely in Singlish. *puppy eyes* ^____^ But yes, the way it's such a jumble of borrowed EVERYTHING is what makes it so fascinating and fun! =D
In the first five minutes, my friend spoke really carefully, I think-- at least, I remember thinking that her words sounded measured and careful. But she used very, very limited Singlish around us, so I don't think I ever heard it from her in all its Singlish glory. =D

I AM, I AM! =D

♪ Five-hundred twenty-five-thousand six-hundred mi~nutes~! ♫ XD XD XD Would be... 8760 hours? D:

*shoots you* First you challenge me with a horrible prompt I'm currently trying to pretend doesn't exist. NOW YOU WANT ME TO WRITE SOMETHING IN SINGLISH??! *facepalm** facefault**headdesk* KAHAAHAH. But, yanno, come to think of it, I might actually be able to do that. Maybe. MAYBE.

...WHY DO YOU KEEP CONVINCING ME TO DO THESE THINGS ( ... )

Oh ho! I should have read this response before replying to the other. XD;;;;;;

So what IS your accent? XD If you don't speak Singlish all that much and you don't have any other English-language-related accent but your Mandarin is awful as well... how DO you speak? O_o

I did ask her to speak in Singlish. XD And she'd give me sentences, but generally, she'd be like, "What am I supposed to say lah?" XD;;;

XD;;;;; It's understandable. Our e-mails are INSANELY LONG OMG. T_T Feel free to chop them down a bit if need be. =D

Of course I've watched RENT! O_o; The movie, anyway. XD Given the chance, I'd go watch the actual musical... maybe. I don't know, Maureen makes my heard bleed a little. It twists and writhes in pain, whimpering and pleading with me to make the pain end. ^^; But I love Mark and Mimi and Joanne. XD

O_O HEE HEE. Ehhhhh.... I don't know lah, maybe if I try, like, hard enough, I can sound damn local one lor. Just see how see how only. Like, see who I talk to liddat. *writer inside dies*

SEE. I can do it. And seriously speaking? I can switch accents. But a lot of people I know always think I've studied abroad, because apparently, I don't sound all that local- which confuses me and pisses me off, maybe I should try harder >( - but perhaps it was because of the company I keep (half of them abandoned me to go overseas. Suckers.)?

Maureen makes me both cringe and laugh whenever she's on-screen. I LOVE ANGEL OMG -hugs hir- But she made me cry the most T^T And Joanne kicks ass, hahah!

XD;;;;;;;;;;;;; That made me happy. Although I do love to hear Singlish more than see it, but reading it is so fun! XD Just trying to make out what I can or can't or maybe-maybe-not understand... ^o^v

O_o But even if your company fled abroad, that doesn't mean that your accent would die when still living at home... O_o; But dude. XD So cool! XD I'm bad at accents. I'm apparently really good at imitating my good friends and family, but it's the way they speak and the things they say, not their actual accents or voices. T.T;

Angel was so adorable! ToT HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT ANGEL?! "Today 4 u, tomorrow 4 me!" ♥♥♥

Ahahah! I don't mean it that way. I meant like, when my close friends come back from abroad, I spend a lot of time with them and sometimes, their accents affect me :/ HEE... But I'm also pretty conscious of the way I speak because I write, and Singlish destroys that quite firmly D: It's just a way of speaking that spits in any self-respecting Englishman's face XD That's way it's so incredibly awesome, ahahh! Our government doesn't seem too fond of it though :X Their all like "SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH CAMPAIGN" and "SPEAK PROPER MANDARIN CAMPAIGN" and all the youngsters in our generation are all like "SHADDUP LARH GAARMEN (government)".

>.< Don't you love my country's culture? We've got so many crazy idiosyncrasies. It's first class entertainment for people like me who don't give a shit.

ANGEL REALLY IS LOVE. I KNEW IT. YOU FORGET HIR. *SMACKS YOU*

LOL~ XD;;; Okay, okay, that makes more sense. ^_^ Here, we go in the opposite direction and linguistics is like, "celebrate ebonics as its own dialect yo, preserve it!" and everyone else is like, "shaddup u >_>". *sigh*

I don't know much about your country's culture~ T.T; Honestly. XD Although someday I WILL go visit Singapore!!! Do you listen to Mr. Brown? My Singaporean friend crazy in love with it. XD

T.T; HOW DARE I FORGET HIR?! I deserve da smackdown. *dies* T.T

Mr Brown? Dyamn... sounds familiar. AHAH. But I'm not a radio/mainstream kind of person. THE RADIO IS TOO FAR AWAY AND MY ARMS ARE TOO SHORT!

WHEN YOU COME OVER, DO STAY OVER, OR I WILL NEBAR FORGIB YOU XD I will personally bring you around if I can and totally spoil you. (So next time, if I ever visit... where ever you are, I can leech off you too! Oh my god I don't remember where you stay D:)

Many people are arguing that Singapore has nay shred of culture. I neg to differ. We're an entire SOCIETY of LANGUAGE BLUDGEONERS, COMPULSIVE PERFECTIONISTS and GOVERNMENT HATERS. Also, the food be awesome.

SEE. We DO have a goddamn culture! Take that, sodding critics!

We should discuss Rent sometime. It's an unbelievably awesome musical. I can't believe it took me such a long time to watch it. And Joanne's voice is shit amazing O_o

Ahahaha, okay. XD Can YouTube it~

LOL. XD I stay in Oregon! ^o^ West coast~ ^_^ Although I dunno where here can go, since everything is so SPACED OUT that we need a CAR for ANYTHING. DDD: BUT! I can take you to some places~ ^o^ Would your folks even be okay with that? O_o A stranger from abroad coming to visit? XD

Huey does love the food there. ^o^ And I wanna have chili padi! And and and... gahmen-haters? XD Why? Are there many? I know Huey is actually quite supportive of Singapore...

^___^ When did you watch it?? I only saw it what, two years ago? T.T

featheredtips February 9 2009, 19:03:34 UTC
HAAH. Oh, I think I know who it is already. I must have watched it, maybe accidentally.

YES. Parents will be quite fine with it. JUST SAY YOU'RE A PEN PAL! :D And you can totally stay! And I can bring you to all sorts of awesome food places to fatten you up. It'll be so fun XD

Oh god. You can eat chilli padi?! D:< My tongue gets really unhappy with me if I try. And so does my stomach, because I get bloated from al that emergency water I guzzle down.

WE BE GAHMEN... well, not so much haters, more like... "disgruntled citizens who just like to complain but won't get off their asses long enough to do anything about it". Yeaaah. We're WAY proactive. >(

I ONLY WATCHED RENT A MONTH AGO. I'MMA LOSER DX

I have realised you've given up on user pics. lols!

Okay. =D

LOL. Okay. XD;;; I'll keep it in mind~ ToT

I've never had chili padi!! I wanna try it, 'cause I can eat anything spicy. XD I've only once had a spicy food that made me wanna die, because it got caught in my throat and burned. D:

LOL! XD;;;;;;;; I see. XD

^^ It's okay! I was like, 20 when I finally saw it. DDD: SO THERE.

Well, I had a paid account and a hundred userpics, but then it expired. T.T; So my userpics are sad. And it's just, I have no default set up. XD So when I reply via e-mail instead of via LJ, I can't pick a pic.
