Maybe? At the very least, I can lol at the pandering because I always manage to see it, like a drooling fanboy who actively looks for it.
FT without fanservice might be arguably less popular. XD

Well, some are predicting a rescue by Laxus, Jellal or Doranbalt, but the next chapter title implies that FT somehow gets up again by itself. I hope it will make sense, when they do. Narutofan will never forgive Mashima for Natsu's nakame punch in the OS arc, and there's really no reason to give them more grounds for hate. XD
Besides, power of love and power of determination are the easy and cheap ways out in battle shounen, and need proper build up to really be convincing, rather then the convenient Deus Ex Machina.

Yeah, we pretty much only know Jellal's Zeref personality, which isn't him at all, and that he is a nice chap who wants to atone. A funny quirk or some character flaws would do wonders for his character.

Nah, it's obvious enough that Erza could be happy and successful without Jellal both pre-Paradis Tower but also post-OS arc. She is not constantly eaten by angst about him, and is also just happy without romance in her life and content to protect and be with her friends.
It's more like "Jellal revolves around Erza". XD
I think I can take "guy revolves around girl" better than the other way around, for obvious reasons. Though depending how it's played, it can suck either way. Oh well, I am really happy that I have been able to warm up a lot to Juvia recently. XD

The flip side of Jellal/Erza is also how much his guilt ill impede him, especially if he ever remembers his memories. He might very well start to think that he is not good enough for her and needs to punish himself etc.

Probably just fights, FT has yet to have any training episode other than Erza/Lily two panel mock fights. XD
I figure it will be implied that she gets stronger with her last two spirits.

I wouldn't mind more Erza fanservice, but I don't care too much for Lucy fanservice. XD

Ugh, if we get the traditional "they fought back with the power of loooove and friendship" BS, I'll...break something. :/ Of course that can happen, but it must be believable (as you said), though I am not sure if Mashima can make it believable at this point, since even Gil-freaking-darts was brought down. Mashima better not disappoint me. >_>

P.S. What's this about Narutofans?

Yes, yes he needs some character flaws and quirks, especially if we're to be seeing more of him. I wonder what it could be. XD

Hahaha, I actually prefer the guy revolving around the girl too. It's so much more fun. XD Though of course, it could make the guy quite pathetic which isn't very fun to read, but I still have hope for Jellal x Erza. There's many paths their relationship could take, but we haven't seen enough to make really strong predictions as to how it could end.

That too. Though I sincerely hope he'll try to move on from the guilt because that would be the ONLY way forward, imo, rather than punishing himself. That would just be pathetic and make everyone miserable.

Mashima isn't a fan of training, is he? XD I hope she does get stronger, though I'm sure she will, especially since it has been implied that her mother was quite strong and perhaps even an important figure in something?

Well, you like Erza and find her sexy, while you're "meh" on Lucy, so it makes perfect sense to me!

It would be disappointing, since this arc has been pretty good so far. I would just like the problem to be solved in a more creative way. Obviously, there is the possibilty of FT finishing this arc by losing, but they have to get out of this alive somehow.

I am happy that Gildarts was not the one to save FT, especially since that would have been another predictable route. (And the fanboys on narutofan would have loved it, so NO.)

Narutofan is a forum which is only one step above 4chan, and has a OP, Bleach, Naruto (d'uh), FT and other manga section. Since that place is so anarchic and irreverent, it can be hilarious a lot times, but it is also full of classic fanboy power level obsession, sexism and homophobia. Not for the faint of heart or the easily enraged.

I hope Mashima invents something good for Jellal in the personality department.

That is exactly what I meant. Some male characters end up looking to pathetic and Nice Guyish with their singular devotion to one woman. It's all in the handling.

I'd agree that so far we have to little to go on to make good predictions about how E/J will be developed the next time they meet. But that is part of what makes it interesting.

I am not very fond of the whole guilt-complex-i-am-not-good-enough-for-her thing, since a lot of time it ends up being silly, annoying and wangsty. I admit, I enjoy it the most when the guy who is befallen by it is usually a haughty jerkass. But with a perfectly nice man it often feels fake or annyoing.

It seems like it, and I am not complaining!
I'm sure Lucy will shine more in the future, and her mother has really been empathized as special, and she died in the same year the dragons left, so more on that should be forth-coming.

I can't help it. Lucy just isn't the sort of character I easily fall for. She's not horrible or anything, she has a lot of good traits but...meh. XD

Well obviously they cannot die, but it would just be very strange if they suddenly got up, attacked and won just like that. There are ways to make their victory believable and even if they win, it won't be the end of questions/problems unless every mystery Mashima put forward in this arc is resolved. I am hoping to get at least some answers this arc or at least bigger hints.

I know about the forums, I guess I was just hoping they wouldn't get their hands on FT bashing or whatnot. Eh, it's too much to hope for I know. I don't even want to go there and see what they've been saying. XD

Of course it makes it interesting, but the waiting can be quite frustrating too. Why does this happen with the ships I really like? ;____;

I think we've seen enough of angsty/guilt-complex-driven Jellal though, so now it would just be time to move on and do something, show us who he is. Show us why he's worthy of Erza. XDDD

Yes, exactly. It is the fact that Layla died which makes me believe something big may be unveiled, regarding her and/or Lucy. I can't wait.

I guess I find Lucy a bit... generic. Granted, I really appreciate that, despite her probably ending up with Natsu eventually, she is not absorbed with crushing on him, and is more about friendship and wanting to be an author (which is totally awesome, btw). And I enjoy many of her interactions with other characters, especially Juvia. Xd
I guess her genericness stems very much from her being cast as the "normal one".

No worries, I didn't mean to imply that.
I think the logical way would be for someone to interrupt the drainage somehow, or overcome it in a way that does make sense. As it is, I definitely feel that this arc will leave a mark on FT as a whole.

For example, if Meldy joins like some predict, her interacting with Gray could be interesting, and also how Juvia ends up feeling about it. (Maybe she'll finally learn about his past?)

Ah, they do like FT in a way, make no mistake, but FT's penchant for using the power of love and nakama as a problem solver for nearly anything is one of the things they are not very fond of. There is certainly a lot of idiocy among them, but their investement and comments also show that enjoy this manga while being more bothered by FT's problems and short-comings than we are. For example, if they hadn't championed it, FT would have never gotten its own section. But eh, a lot of times they do deserve a good smacking.

But the wait also makes the excitement all the greater when you finally get yours. The longer you wait the more it will stew.

I am with you on this one.
The guilt complex being totally gone would make no sense, but I think focusing on other aspects of him more would be really cool.

She probably has some connection to the dragons, but damn if I know what it is. XD

Yes, I do love that Lucy wants to be an author! :D The girl has brains and strength, that I must admit, but I find it difficult to try love her as a heroine. LOL, I can't see Natsu with anyone. XD

Oh my gosh, Meldy! I almost forgot about her. -____- Meldy could be quite an interesting addition to FT, though I wonder what that would mean for her relationship with Ultear and how Ultear would take it. You know, this arc could be very, VERY good if Mashima does it right. XD

Ah, I see. Well, as much as I hate the power of love and friendship used as an excuse for power ups, is it even surprising anymore? XD It's just one of those things you have to resign to when it comes to stories like FT. Sooner or later, it will happen. It's best to look for the good points in such fights, I guess, unless the way conflicts are resolved brings the whole arc or series down.

Ah, that's true. Though the waiting could be a let down too...pffft, I'm being pessimistic again.

Oh, I'm sure he'll feel guilty/horrible, but even so, I don't want pages and pages of Jellal's "I'm such a bad person, oh woe is me" whining. The only way to try and make things better is to take action and show you're a good person now, to show who you actually are. That's what I expect. Hm.

I'm not one for crack theories. XD
