Well, it is Thursday night. Therefore, the art trip was yesterday. And it was so wonderful. I love art. And I love art appreciators. Yummy art.

I woke up at 4.15 in the am and finished packing up my stuff and eating breakfast. I made it to school at 5:00 am which was meeting time. I was put on the Photography/Studio Art bus. Certain classes of the art department were separated into certain groups. Art history and I guess, regular art was on the other bus. Well. I sat by Killian and Kirsten from photo 2, who were pretty much my only friends on the bus since my friends from studio art didn't come on the field trip, and I don't like many of the people in my class. But that's besides the point. I sat directly next to Angie from field hockey since there were few seats left on the bus. We were pretty close to the front, and normally that is the "uncool" part of the bus, but I was content. Better views. I slept for a good portion of the ride to New York, but I kept sleeping in weird positions and it hurt my neck a lot. I listened to my iPod Shuffle a lot, which was a godsend for the trip. And so cute, too!

We stopped at the Delaware House around 7.30 am to pee and grab some snacks. I bought a Grande Caramel Apple Cider from Starbucks since I'm not much for coffee or tea. And then I peed. Then we got back on the road. The sunrise was gorgeous and it made me so happy to be awake and able to watch. Nowadays I leave for school before the sun's up, so I don't get the pleasure of appreciating it. I took lots of pictures on the road. Landscapes of course. Surprisingly, I have very few pictures of people. But I think I captured most of the goodness.

Arrived at destination Metropolitan Museum of Art at 10.30. We went in at 11.00 but we had to wait a stupid 15 minutes waiting for people to pee some more. We had to leave the Met at 12.00 for our other trips, so we really didn't have much time in the museum at all. We had a tour guide who took us through the classical drab. It would have been much more efficient if we did the self guided tour, but, I guess I learned a lot? Anywho. At noon, the whole lot of us went to Central Park to check out Jean Claude and Christo's The Gates. It was pretty stunning. I loved it! The orange was fantastic. And against the white snow. It was an orgasm to my eyes. I took many many pictures. I experienced a once in a life time exhibit! For free! Wheeeoeoeoeee! After The Gates, we headed back to the Met and grabbed lunch. Lots of people spent lots of money in the NEW CAFETERIA! But I was too cheap. So I bought a Jumbo Hot Dog and Pretzel for 4$ from a vender in front of the museum. Afterwards, Killian and I went to the bathroom, yet again, and then hit the gift shop. We each bought postcards of all the works of Jean-Claude and Christo. And then I bought a yellow pen of black ink. It write well. Success.

There was some trouble through the day unfortunately. A couple times, some kids didn't come back to the meeting place at the right time so the parents and teachers were going paranoid. I felt bad. New York is pretty big and intimidating. And watching 90-some kids must be insane. But we all made it back home, so everyone is happy.

After giftshopping, the buses headed over to the Museum of Modern Art. It was stunningly gorgeous and very busy. Loads of artsy people were there and the such. The art was awesome and I preferred it over the Met. It was just more interesting to me. Some things befuddled Killian and me as to how they could be considered art. I mean c'mon. LOOFAHS! Three different colored loofahs on a shelf made by three different "artists?" Sure it looked cool, but I did lots of double-takes in the MoMA. Some art was so simple yet so amazing. I don't know how certain artists just seem to pull it off. There was a sculpture by Dan Flavin which made me so happy. I love his work since I saw him whole exhibit at the Nat'l Gallery of Art in DC. I took most of my pictures in the MoMA. It was very happy-making. I didn't see many of the famous works like Starry Night or whatever else was on my art scavenger hunt sheet. But I'm cool with that. I still loved what I was able to see. Again, we ran out of time. And then I lost Killian in the gift shop. But she made it to the bus. So, I was less paranoid. Phewph. It was around 5.30, I guess.

We traversed back home and waved good-bye to the Big Apple. I watched 10 Things I Hate About You on the bus. That was pretty sweet. I Shuffled some more, too. We stopped again at the Delaware House around 8.15 pm. I bought another Grande Caramel Apple Cider from Starbucks. I wanted Tazo Chai, but the prices were jacked, and it's too easy to make untasty, so I went conservative. I bought dinner from Roy Rogers including a Bacon Cheeseburger and Mashed Potatoes. Yay for cheap eats! I later saw the smoothie stand, and regretted buying the Cider. But the smoothies were more expensive anyways. So I didn't regret too much. We all loaded the buses again and headed to home sweet home. We made it to school around 10.15 pm or so. It was a swell trip and well worth the money and the missing school. Mwahaha. Man, I love art. We'll see if it's in the college plans. . .

So I'm finishing my mix cd for my art teacher who's leaving. It's horribly hard to fit ultra awesome songs onto a 21 track album. But I am trying. And I am almost done. I don't much want school tomorrow, because a 1 day school week would be trEs super for me. But, then again, I also want to say good-bye to my teacher. Oh sigh. We didn't even get Open Studio tonight.

On the brighter note. Fishy and I won 2nd place in science fair for BIOCHEMISTRY. That sounds pretty good, right? Of course, there are only about 6 or so beaming young scientist competitors. But we still got 2nd place! That makes me really happy. Back to the unhappy note, I think we're going to have school tomorrow. The temperature is enough above freezing, and the snow has finally stopped. I do so hope for a delay, because I haven't done my homework yet. We'll see how today fares. Maybe the force be with you.
