Es mi primera carta de mi viaje en España

Hola!

Well, I´ve only been here for a day and I already have so much to tell
you all! When we got to the Philadelphia Airport the first order of
business was to hit the Duty Free store----not for me---- but for this
one guy, in particular. This is only important because while we were on
the flight to Madrid he decided it would be a good idea to take some
Xanax and follow it up with straight Kettle One vodka which ultimately
ended up with him puking his brains out on himself and the girl next to
him... they ended up making out and cuddling afterwards... true love.

We arrived in Madrid and went through la aduana (jenna- remember caminos
peligrosos?) quickly. we took a bus ride to trujillo... it took another
3 hours and another girl puked the entire busride... and yep... just like
w/ the boy... i was sitting in the seat behind them. gross!!!!

When we got to Trujillo it was crazy! We pulled up and got out of the
bus and all of the families were there. We had name cards and had to
find out parents. We all live in different parts of the town. I live in
the Trujillo "projects" and there are others who live in really upscale
homes with pools and work out rooms. But it´s cool. For the first time
in my life I have my own bedroom! Unfortunately for my Spanish sister
(who was kicked out of her room) she now has to sleep with her mother. I
feel awful!

OK- my family... I have a Spanish mother named Victoria who is really
nice. She´s already scolded me for not eating enough... but they shove
food in your face all the time! She is really nice and calls me "Abril"
because Aubrey is too hard to say. Basically everyone in Trujillo that
I´ve met calls me Abril. It´s ok. I have a Spanish sister named Ana who
is 16 and is very very nice. Neither one of them speaks any english AT
ALL. I also have another spanish sister named Victoria but she is away
at college.

My first meal was cold pasta with tuna, cheese, carrots, and crab legs
all together. Also bread. It was terrible, but I pretended to like it.
We ate at 3 because that´s when Ana gets back from school. After we ate
I fell asleep... but then Sarah came and got me because my mother and
sister had left so I was alone.

We met up with her family and my friend Sara´s family and we had drinks
at the Plaza. Oh my gosh... Megan (another girl from home) walked by
with her spanish brother Luis. Possibly one of the most gorgeous men I
have ever seen in my life. Apparently he is famous in Charleston too as
a heartbreaker for all the "Americanas" that have studied here... Marina
told us to be careful though because he has a girlfriend. (Pero, dice que
no tiene cuando esta con las chicas americanas) But the Plaza is
absolutely breathtaking. I can´t believe how gorgeous it is! After
drinks we went back home to eat dinner and then I got ready to go out for
mi primera noche en España. (sidenote- it gets dark here so so late...
the sun doesn´t even start to set until around 10)

In Trujillo no one goes out on weekdays.... so it was weird that when we
went to the bar there were only a few people. We went to a local one
called Vilu and the bartender, Emilio, and the guys, bought us drinks all
night. We didn´t even leave until 4 in the morning. It´s weird.... I
don´t know if it was the drinks making us more talkative or making us
believe we were better, but we definitely spoke a lot better/more spanish
after a couple cervezas. Everyone here smokes up too! One guy invited
us to meet him back at Vilu tonight and then go smoke before going to the
clubs. (Sidenote- Jordan got here and his parents immediately took him
to the bar where they had him drink 6 beers then took him back to their
house where they have 10 marijuana plants growing... he´s been high ever
since)

This morning was rough. We had to make it to the Plaza for a tour of
Trujillo. Again- absolutely beautiful!

Tonight we have a party at my professor, Lola´s, house and we´re getting
kicked out of the lab.

Just wanted to say that I am having so much fun and classes start on
Monday. Please send me emails because I want to know what you are doing
at home. And it´s nice to hear from everyone.

Mom and dad- I dont´think that I can call you while I´m here at all... so
i´ll just try to IM erik... what is his email address?

Here is my friend´s webshots... I´ll try to get mine up soon!
