November 2nd , 2004, the date of George Bush’s reelection; “a date which will live in infamy.”
It was on this day that Americans showed their lack of political knowledge or maybe they showed that they just don’t care. I remember watching the election coverage at my friends house; watching America get sucked down the political drain. Maybe it’s just that I’m a Democrat and know what‘s best, or maybe it’s that or president is a bumbling racist fool. I’m pretty sure it’s the former. For the most part, I’m a pascifist. I believe that war should only be used as a last resort. With this belief in mind, I am totally against the current war in Iraq; a war now entangled in a web of lies and deception by our leader. The cause is still basically unknown to me. Originally, we were there because Sadam Houssein posed an iminent threat with his WMDs (weapons of mass destruction). However, after the invasion, it was quite clear that either the weapons had magically disappeared along with the labs, or somebody’s nose had just grown quite a bit. But Pinnochio was nowhere to be found; instead, it was an egotistical Texan with a cabinet full of liars. So, realizing his fault, Bush apologized to the country for allowing hundreds of U.S. soldiers and innocent Iraqis die, wasting America’s money and driving the country into a massive deficit, and of course lying. Actually, that’s what didn’t happen. Instead, old Bushy decided to lie his way out of the mess he had created with, well, an original lie. His new story involved us invading the country for the liberation of a people from their crooked, lying, people-killing dictatious leader…hmmm sounds familiar. Anyways, that was a pretty lame excuse considering the amount of dictators in the world, some of which perform genocides to which the U.S. turns a national cheek. So why was he allowed to get away with it? Probably because of the fear he inflicted upon Americans with tales like “The Cat in the Turban” and “One Terrorist, Two Terrorists, Red Terrorist, Blue Terrorist”. He also made a color spectrum known as the “Homeland Security Advisory System” which worked with most Americans, excluding the blind and color blind. These “Scare Tactics” used by the Bush administration somehow assured more than half of America that a vote for Bush was a vote against terrorism, and of course John Kerry was an inexperienced, flip-flopping liberal who knew nothing about government and sympathized with terrorists. A lot of things make me laugh, but few as much as this notion. John Kerry had more government experience then G Dubya and of course did not sympathize with terrorists. If you’re looking for a terrorist sympathizer you may want to look at the one pointing the finger. The Bush family is pretty close friends with the Saudi government which is known to harbor terrorists and they also have been known to help out the families of terrorists (he flew the Bin Laden family out of America only a few days after 9/11). But putting those facts aside, America is much safer with President Bush. After all, it’s not like he allowed the large-scale attack on American soil involving high jacked plains crashing into buildings or anything. And of course Bush’s cabinet has been there defending him, like a wife defending her alcoholic husband. Condoleezza and Colin stuck with Bush, lying by his side the whole time. Colin Powell presented the pictures of Iraqi chemical weapon labs to the UN. Condoleezza Rice testified before the 9/11 comission in full support of their pre and post-9/11 decisions. Obviously, there’s something wrong with that alone. But moving on, Bush’s ethics also bother me quite a bit. I find the fact that he believes in the death penalty strongly, yet is against a woman’s right to choose with abortion quite hypocritical considering they both involve killing a human. I also find his belief that he was chosen by God really disturbing. I think it would be pretty beneficial if he started governing America responsibly, without religion weighing in on his mind. Things like stem-cell research and gay marriage have the potential to be very beneficial to the well-being and social status of American culture. But, because Bush’s beliefs are governing our lives, I guess were pretty much screwed for the next 4 years. So when the dust from the rebuilding of Iraq, or a nuclear winter involving North Korea, has settled, perhaps we can start over. But first we need to regain the respect of the world, especially those nations in the UN. Lately we’ve cast them away like a nagging girlfriend. But it’s time to take her back, because, lets face it, she always has been pretty hot.
