Apparently 6 hours is a reasonable break between shifts.

Read this. Specifically Section II, Article 3: "Member States shall take the measures necessary to ensure that every worker is entitled to a minimum daily rest period of 11 consecutive hours per 24-hour period."
Then do your rotas so you don't put people on 14-hour shifts, on the day of the England quarter final, finishing at 2am then demand that they be back there at 8am for a staff meeting.

Needless to say I didn't go to the meeting, which I only found out about at 2am this morning anyway. If they don't like it they can kiss EWTD-protected arse.
