Because I keep meaning to post it but never do:
Comic Con 2009 Cosplay Gallery, courtesy of Maximum PC. It contains crapload of costumes that range from obvious and cliche to something so obscure I couldn't believe someone actually knew it (not to mention quite a few costumes that I had to look up). I mean, who dresses up as Golden Age Flash? And \the sheer effort that must have gone in some of those costumes.... Ah, shine on, geeks of the word. Shine on.
And, in a somewhat related link, Jeff Weiss of Passion of the Weiss goes to his local Renaissance Faire and finds a den of debauchery. It's not nearly as salacious as it sounds, and it isn't entirely serious. Heck, if I had time or the inclination, I could probably write something similar about Chicagoland's own Anime Central. If sexual tension was energy, the convention center would save so much money in energy bills...
