ResiDANCE dance music podcast and the elusive embeddability

Feb 12, 2018 00:32

So back in 2016, I subscribed to ResiDance podcast, which is basically the recorded version of the Europa Plus radio program about - you guessed it - dance music. It's a great way to listen to some cool music and discover songs I never heard before. Problem is, I recently noticed that, for the past few weeks, the podcast feed hasn't been updating.

I did a bit of digging and discovered that there was another feed that did update. Still not sure what happened with the previous feed. And I discovered that the feed I've been using before actually lets you embed entire episodes in Livejournal.

You have to understand - embedding anything in Livejournal is a bit of pain. Partially because, years and years ago, it limited what you could embed, and partially because technology changes, and suspect that some stuff simply isn't compatible with Livejournal. I mean, the platform has been around for two decades. So when I discover that something is actually embeddble...

The new feed lets you embed episodes - just not on Livejournal. So, when I started writing this post, I figured that, well, it may come too late to be useful, but i could at least embed the last podcast available on the old feed, just because I can. But then, I realized that the site the feed was on has a crapton of other podcasts which do get updated. Those can be embedded. Of course, most of them are in Russian, so I'm not sure how useful that would be, but at least it's a thing I can do.

But for now, here's the December 12, 2017 episode of ResiDance. Even if you don't know Russian, you can at least appreciate the music (if you are into this kind of music). And, if you hear something you like, here's the complete English-language playlist.
