I am glad that your life seems to be settling down work-wise, even if it's still pretty stressful. Honestly, I feel like I haven't been the most attentive friend, and I'm sorry for that. Sure, I've been busy with work and... other stuff, but I feel like it's not enough of an excuse. If anything, my recent experiences have brought into stark relief just how important friendships can be. I will try to do better. And, if you need to talk, I'm always here.
But this was supposed to be a birthday post, wasn't it? So let me wish you less stress, more stability and more joy. especially more joy. I hope you had a nice birthday, in a strange but, all things considering, fairly cool city of New Orleans.
In lieu of a birthday card, here is an awesome mural from Chicago's very own Austin neighborhood. If you ever make it to these parts, I would love to show you some of the nicer parts. Because, contrary to what one may get from TV news, they do exist.
