Back in 2013, Mount Baldy, the biggest dune in the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, was closed to the public after
a freak accident nearly got a kid killed. Four years later, it's still closed - but Michigan City News-Dispatch recently reported that they are
reopening the beach on the other side of the dune.
So while you still can't get gorgeous from-the-top-of-the-dune views like this
You can at least go down to the beach and see Mt. Baldy and the dunes in all of their glory.
And the beach itself isn't too bad, either.
So while I hope that, some day, my friends and family will be able to get the kind of views i got back in 2010 (because the photos can only capture so much), this is a good step forward.
