Harvey Comics, home of Casper the Friendly Ghost and Richie Rich, once did a story involving it's teen characters
doing LSD. Seriously. And they are not very subtle about it, either.
All I can say is - how the helling hell did this get past the Comic Code?
And, looking back at the early days of American comics, Savannah College of Art and Design students
do stories about Fletcher Hanks' trippy Golden Age characters. The stories range from relatively straight-forward to completely nonsensical.

Stardust takes on global warming... and that's just the weirdest stuff. Some of the stories are definitely better than others, but that comes with the territory when you're dealing with anthologies.
