A gallery of ultraviolet paintings
On her recent trip to the Latvian resort town of Jūrmala, neferjournal came across something I never would have imagined existed a gallery of paintings that can be seen in a different light - in the most literal way possible.

If I didn't happen to wind up in Jūrmala, and if I wasn't dragged into this gallery, I never would have learned about this. The artist, by the way, exhibits his work in Moscow and Paris. It's impossible to explain what it is. I heard the term "light painting," and the brain didn't give any response to that word. Like, how would you imagine it?
Musical accompaniment fills the hall, and, from time to time, the light changes. Depending on that, you see something in the painting you've never seen before. It's like an entertaining tourist attraction. Like, there's a cliff and the sea, and suddenly, a Madonna with a babe appears. A faded abstraction becomes wild exotic plant life. there's no way to guess the painting's "second face," it's always a complete surprise
The lighting set-up
Everybody knows Malevich's "Black Square" Suprematism. this is even cooler. White canvas in the frame. But it's not that simple

Flowers. The painting is already nice. But once the light changes...
... and you can see the birds.

A starry night and a bull's shadow
Vitaliy Ermolayev is an artist, architect and a designer. He's the author of this innovative technology, has a patent. In 2004, he build a house of his own design, where opened this art gallery-salon. Now, it's a tourist destination and a Jūrmala landmark. You can just come and see. Admission is 3 euros, and it's open from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Address: Jurmala, Majori, Omnibusa iela 19 (jermolajev.lv) The also do the light painting classes called INNER LIGHT. It's all very interesting.
