Some Chicago-related links:
Chicago Transit Authority is looking to sell, lease and otherwise make some money off it's
real estate holdings. I was particularly impressed by the listings of all the
unused land land and empty buildings CTA apparently owns. Like, what's up with the Art Deco building between Green Line Clinton and Ashland stations? And how come CTA owns a huge patch of land in the western portion of the Pink Line?
But, more interestingly, will anyone actually take CTA up on any of it's offers?
Chicago Reader put together a
fascinating feature that showcases Chicago's alderman in all their glory and disgrace (sometimes both). Written with biting humor, it offers an interesting insight as to why many Chicago neighborhoods (and Chicago in general) are the way they are. Click on a number of the ward to get the lowdown on each alderman.
