Some cool Power Rangers/Super Sentai Megazord/Mech concept art

Last week, I came across a bunch of scans from an art book of giant robots from the Super Sentai series.

For those who don't know, the Super Sentai franchise was a long-running Japanese live-action series that, since 1993, has been adopted into Power Rangers. The show uses the Super Sentai giant moster/robot battles, and some the Sentai footage of the fights where the heroes are in costume. So, if you've watched Power Rangers as a kid - and/or if you still watch it now - a lot of the robots featured in the book are going to look familiar.

As I scrolled through the scans, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the book also had some concept art. I figure that many people reading this will at least be interested in the concept art for the seasons that were adopted into Power Rangers. Not all of them, but there's still plenty of stuff to look at.

Concept art for mechs from Gosei Sentai Dairanger, which was used for the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, which was used for the third season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers mini-season

Chōriki Sentai Ohranger, adopted into Power Rangers Zeo

Gekisou Sentai Carranger, which was adopted into Power Rangers Turbo

Denji Sentai Megaranger, adopted into Power Rangers in Space

Seijuu Sentai Gingaman, adopted into Power Rangers Lost Galaxy

This is around the time when I stopped watching Power Rangers regularly, but I think this is from Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGoFive, which was adopted into Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue

And I think this is from Mirai Sentai Timeranger, which was adopted into Power Rangers Time Force

And I believe this is for mechs from Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger, which was adopted into Power Rangers Wild Force

If you want to see concept sketches for Super Sentai seasons that didn't get adopted into Power Rangers - or the renderings for all of the mechs/zords that made it to the screen one way or another - click here.
