Back in September, I wrote about how Livejournal s eems to be making an effort to attract non-Russian users. And they seem determined to keep going.

Over at news, the theljstaff recently announced that Stan Lee joined Livejournal. Yes, that Stan Lee.

We're very pleased to announce that Stan Lee has joined LiveJournal! Welcome to LiveJournal, therealstanlee -- check out his journal to keep up with all the news, stories, and exciting announcements he'll be making there.

As many of you already know, Stan is involved with a huge comic expo each year in Los Angeles called Comikaze Expo, one of the largest comic conventions in the country. This year, we're thrilled to let you know that Stan will be visiting the LiveJournal booth at Comikaze Expo on Saturday, where 10 lucky fans will have a chance to meet him in person! If you're in L.A. this weekend at the Expo, swing by our booth and enter the raffle for this chance to win an awesome fan experience.

My first thought was "how much did SUP pay him?" I mean, while Livejournal has its share of English-speaking writers and artists, they have been here for years, back from the time when Livejournal was more popular in English-speaking countries than it is now. So I highly doubt Stan Lee joined just because he liked the platform. Especially with the bit about the Livejournal booth at Comikaze.

(Speaking of which - this would make the first time Livejournal tried to advertise itself at any convention. If nothing else, props for putting themselves out there to a place with large audience.)

So far, Stan Lee's LJ has mostly been promotional/ PR stuff. So if you are looking for the mix of promotional stuff and personal opinion like what you'd find at grrm's blog... that's probably not it. But we'll see.

(And I have to add - it is a pretty nicely designed LJ)

Speaking of George R.R. Martin - my second thought was "oh, I bet grrm was happy to hear this."

geek stuff, comics, livejournal business
