The Great Snow Quake of 2010 or so people tell me.

Feb 10, 2010 12:17

Okay so at 4AM CST Northern IL experienced an earthquake. I live about 10-15 miles from the epicenter, as the crow flies. I woke up to a rumbling and some minor tremors. I though it was thunder at first. We were in the middle of a snowstorm and Thundersnows aren't unheard of, but it last too long. I was confused, but when it was over I realized it was a quake. The power was fine and there was no appearant damage, so I rolled over and went back to sleep which perturbed my cat more than the quake. My brother slept through it all.

I got to work and the coworkers were going on and on about how they thought it was an explosion or that the world was ending. these people live in the same general area. My room is on the second story of a wood house and my bed shaking was equivalent to a magic fingers. Get a grip.

And the moral of the story is some people are stupid.
