Project

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect... but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly... timey-wimey... stuff."  (the Doctor, Blink, Doctor Who 2007)

Recently, I've been developing an alter outcome for DC's upcoming "Final Crisis". Generally, when I write I stick close to canon and just give events a slashy slant--see "When Robins Don't Fly" and "Caught in the Act". Now , the idea is simple. No more heroes that aren't tech or training based. After the crisis, like all the crises reality is rewritten. This time the doors of reality are shut, locked, barred, and cemented over. Meaning no more magic, nothing extra-dimensional, no otherworldly intervention divine or damned. On top of that all the metas and aliens have any extraordinary abilities they possessed.

As I began mapping this new universe out, I began to realize just how ambitious a project it was and was wondering if anyone would like to calaborate with me. I would like to see this through, but know I'll never do it on my own. I've never collaborated with anyone, so I open to suggestions.

I don't want to leave the universe completely reeling, so I'm leaving the Guardians and the Green Lanterns intact to deal with space based threats. In my mind they're science based anyway. I am debating Kyle's fate as torchbearer. I think I want to give him a happy retirement with Connor Hawke. He's earned, but of course he would still have to work for it a little.

Atlanteans would still breathe water.

I'm not certain about what to do with the Amazons. Leave them in a happy little dimension with their gods or leave them alone in an unfamiliar world where they would probably be split between an isolationist policy and Diana urging them to join the world at large.

Nature abhors a vacuum, so does Bruce. Even with all the metas gone there would still be tons of villians and rogues left. The Arkham Inmates would be almost entirely unaffected with the exception of Poison Ivy, Flash's rogues would be mostly intact, too, but there's no Flash. What would Lex do with no Superman to keep him in check. Bruce would step-up and take charge, but how will the remaining heroes take it.

I'm not sure what to do with a depowered Flash family. They're to good to ignore.

Should I make the Martians human or let them leave Earth and explore the new universe?

Depowered by team:

JSA

Power Girl, Green Lantern, Dr. Mid-nite, Flash, J.J. Thunder, Cyclone, Wildcat II, Steel, Liberty Belle, Obsidian, Sandy would lose his sand form

JLA

Superman, Wonder Women, Flash, Black Lightning, GeoForce, Martian Manhunter, Vixen, Black Canary loses her Canary Call, Red Tornado made human?
Teen Titans

Kid Devil, Miss Martian, Beast Boy, Wonder Girl, Raven, Jericho, Kid Flash and Superboy (I brought them back for Final Crisis, They're their pre-IC versions.)

Birds of Prey

Barda

Outsiders

Who is even on this team? I stopped reading during OYL.

Pairing and plot threads:

Clark/Lois, Bruce/Clark:

I love Lois and Clark, but I believe that a powerless Clark combined with now broody Conner and little Chris will be too much for Lois to handle. Can Bruce really survive with out Clark by his side?

Dick/Roy:

The situation forces them to work together again and work out their feelings and differences. Maybe have them train the next generation.

Dinah/Ollie:

I've actually been reading Green Arrow. I believe that Ollie has really grown and changed as a person. I think he's worth a second fourth another chance. Dinah does sabotage a lot of her own relationships. She dropped Dr. Mid-nite when they had a good thing going. So why not?

Cassie/Conner, Conner/Tim:

Cassie and Conner's relationship will die do to them being long distance. Tim being the good friend that he is will help Kon cope with his new life.

Eddie/Zatara, Beast Boy:

The two depowered boys are trying to make it in Hollywood while mooching off of Zat. Sounds like a sitcom to me. Too bad I can't write humor well.

I want to write this so it feels organic, so that things mesh in a believable manner, but it's just so big. Why, oh why, would would my brain think to rewrite the entire universe!?!
