Turn It Up To Eleven - MacGyver/SPN

May 02, 2008 19:46

Ages and ages ago julorean prompted me to write a story about Dean the inventor meeting MacGyver, the ultimate inventor. I never felt I got it right, so I never posted it. After Dean built an electromagnet in last week's episode, Ghostfacers, I decided this needed to be finished. Much thanks to pen37 who showed me where I'd gone off track.

Title: Turn It Up ( Read more... )

Awww, that was so sweet. I loved how you showed John as being a good Dad. I really feel that he was a good hunter and did his best as a Dad. He just had his blind spots, like every other parent. Sometimes he just needed someone else to open his eyes.

And I LOVE that you made it a MacGyver crossover! I've been buying the seasons on DVD and wallowing in the '80s vibe. I really enjoyed the series as a kid, and I'm enjoying it again. I love your MacGyver and Dean here. I almsot wish something like this had happened.

Suddenly I have a plot bunny of Dean and Sam saving Mac's life from something supernatural years later...

*mems*

Oh, I just have to add something!

There's actually an episode of MacGyver where Penny Parker inherits what seems to be a haunted mansion. And the whole time, MacGyver scoffs at the stories and says that, "There's a perfectly rational explanation for anything supernatural."

He DOES use the word supernatural, I did you not. :-D

I remember that episode.
I also remember two other episodes where Mac DID brush with supernatural. One was with a possible encounter with the Bigfoot, that seemed to be a setup but in the end of the growling yell across the misty landscape is heard; other was later in the seasons and there an ancient Native American shaman spirit saved Mac's life (a wolf led him into a cave and later that wolf was a dried up old dead animal in the corner of the cave).
So... crossover with Winchesters meeting Mac again in some obscure place... rather plausible!

You Guys are just killing me with good ideas for a sequel. the Winchesters trying to convince Mac it's all real could be a hoot.

That's what I just wrote to you...

Hey yeah, you're right! I forgot about those two episodes. I love the idea of the bigfoot one. Dean would make Sasquatch jokes the whole time and Sam would have a perpetual bitch-face.

Damn, I might keep that for story idea number two.

And the wolves one - if Dean met another native american Elder, would that guy call Dean a liar too? THAT would have Sam smirking.

But if you want to use the any of these ideas in your sequel, don't let me stop you :-D

He might... but I am lost as I have no context WHY the Elder would call Dean a liar in the 1st place. I have only seen SPN 1st season, you see.

It was in the season one episode called "Bugs". Remember? Dean and Sam were trying to find the truth behind a massacre legend, and they went to a nearby native american reservation and met up with an Elder in the diner. Dean's in the first line of a bullshit story, and the Elder cuts him off with, "You're a liar."

Which had Sam trying to hide a smirk and Dean looking wounded :-D

I won't hold it against you.

Kidding! You reminded me of the other MacGyver supernatural episodes, so it's all good.

I agree about John. he just Couldn't see that what he was doing was damaging his kids. he thought he was protecting them.

I'm so happy that this crossover is working so well for everyone. Now i feel like I have to write the AU story where Dean actually goes to college.

OTOH It would be cool if they ran into each other as grown-ups - you should write that!

I remember that haunted house episode. Might be fun to rewrite it with the Winchester showing up to save the day and prove Mac was wrong. [g]

DO EEEET.

And you have me running with re-writing that episode... I'll until I've seen Ghostfacers first though, 'cos I want Dean to be able to mention what happened in it. *cackles*

Absolutely, I'll give you a heads up. Besides, I'll have to set up a link to your story, because mine would basically be a sequel to it.

I've actually never posted a story before, but I've been writing drabbles here and there, and getting into the idea of posting in this fandom. So I hope I'll do the story justice. And write it soon. :-P
