Thanks Flisters, for all the insight about wearing and buying hearing aids. I really appreciate it. I decided that I'm not in a situation yet where hearing aids are truly necessary
So I called to cancel the hearing aids - I just couldn't see spending so much when my hearing is still fairly good and Hubby was supportive of my decision. So Mr. Miller (the guy who was testing me) says - but hey did you know your insurance will pay more; now they are only $2000. I said that I really didn't want to spend that much when I didn't hear a lot of improvement when I wore the demos.
Then he says well how about a cheaper model. WTF? Suddenly there is a more inexpensive model available. This one starts at $2300 (as opposed to the expensive - $4000+ ones he tried to sell me first). He assured me that my insurance would most likely bring them down close to $1000.
Is he serious? It seems very bait and switch with a touch of used car salesman thrown in. Now I'm really not interested in buying them from his company, but he offered to let me try them out so I figure why not. So Monday I'm gonna get a free trial just to see how ones that are fitted for me work out.
