TV returns!

I love January! Yes I hate the cold and the snow, but the second half of the TV season has begun and I am a happy addict!

So I thought I'd share some thoughts about random TV things which have caught my interest. Not sure if any of what follows could be considered spoilers but I'll employ the cut to spare the flist.

Being Human
While so many shows were in reruns in Dec, I decided to listen to the flisters from the UK and take a look at this show. For those that don't know it was a 6 episode series about a Vampire, a ghost and a Werewolf who are roommates. And if you were like me and thought that was a ridiculous premise well I was completely and utterly wrong. It's not a campy show. In fact it's one of the best dramas and the characters for all there supernatural abilities are so very real. I love this show and now that series two has started I'm grateful for the ability to DL.

I heard that SYFY has commissioned a US version and I have no doubt it will be crap just as the US Life on Mars was. Still, I'm curious to see who they cast

NCIS
Robert Wagner as Tony's dad - I can't think of more perfect casting. We learn so much about Tony and his solitary childhood and conman father - MW gives an amazing performance. When Senior tells Junior that he loves him at the end, I was tearing up. So we've met Gibbs, Tony's and Ziva's dad...someone on the writer's staff has serious Daddy issues. Now I want to meet the Mom's - do any of the characters actually have mom's besides Ducky.

I loved the moment at the end where Gibbs makes steaks for him and Tony and you get the impression that this was something they did quite often. Also I wanted to cheer when Gibbs told Senior what a great agent Tony was and he should enjoy him while he can. Just so much love for this episode!

American Idol
Yes it's that time again. I've never apologized for being an Idol head I'm excited about the new season. I hate the early rounds yet once again I found myself watching. Not much to say except I really didn't miss Paula at all but then i didn't expect too. The dynamic without her was fine and Kara is really growing on me - she's certainly more coherent and insightful than Paula ever was. i am very excited for Ellen to join the panel and while I am not happy about there being four judges (more talking less singing) I think Ellen could be a lot of fun.

Dr. Who
I know it's been a while since the last David Tennant episode aired, but it's taken me this long to make sense of the mess that the special was. Seriously WTF? It was so bad on so many levels. The stupidity of bringing the TL back only to say 'whoops just kidding'. I could do an entire post about how much I hated it and how happy I am to see RTC go. Don't get me wrong I was a huge fan of DT as the Doctor and I know many on the flist were not but I loved him. Still after two hours of whiny 'I'm gonna die' pouting I was completely ready for 11. So if Uncle Rusty's goal was to make me sad and sorry to see 10 go so much that I wouldn't watch 11 - he blew it because I am totally psyched for 11.

Leverage is back this week and I can not wait.

I am disappointed that Glee isn't bad until spring. That show has the ability to make me smile all the time.

But mostly I am going through terrible horrible Merlin withdrawal!! I love this show more than anything else I've watched this year. I really hate that Brit shows have such short series - I need 22 episodes a year not 13 - You are such a tease BBC.

Oh and I think Supernatural is starting again soon - I hate that I've lost my fangirl glee for the show, but I still love Dean and Sam even if the stories have taken a turn I'm not fond of. i love those boys too much to stop watching and am am totally looking forward to the body swap episode. That is on of my favorite plot devices!

So flist what has captured you attention this TV season?
