Love of cookery, baking, and affection does not make me a housewife or a homebody. I refuse to listen to people who ignore all other facets of one's personality to focus on an easily defined stereotype. I'm not a housewife any more than a spinster. I am a girl with a lot to learn and a will to learn it who does not mind giving in to parts of herself when they seem to call more strongly. I don't believe that one should characterize oneself or others entirely by what one sees of them now; and hearing such terms from someone causes me to reexamine their supposed refusal to judge by appearances. You cannot say that you are colourblind and unprejudiced by race or gender and still come out with comments like that. What, really, is the difference?
