So, a long time ago, the uterus was not called the uterus, it was called the hysterus.
The hysterus was thought of as some kind of hungry animal, and it needed to be fed often on a diet of sexual intercourse or pregnancy.
If it was not fed often enough, it would move to other parts of the woman's body, and begin to take over her mind. This would be called a state of hysteria.
The word hysteria means to be overcome by the hysterus, or uterus.
Is PMS hysteria?
