Last night my work had its annual Christmas meeting making this the third one I've attended. Getting paid to sit and listen to mission statements and holiday strategy for two hours is something I can't really complain about especially when pizza is involved. A brand new tape explained to us just why store memberships are the greatest thing in the world and how to sell them to actors who are amazed by everything. Some people might think that age has something to do with the quality of training videos but the only real difference between the old and the new are the the current ones try extra hard to convince you that it is the most multicultural video in America. On another note my name got pulled from a hat netting me the eleventh Lemony Snickett book. I will probably give this as a gift but it is nice to win something.

It was warm enough outside to get out and beat a couple levels of Boktai 2. For those who don't know this is Hideo Kojima's latest game. It plays like a mix between Metal Gear Solid and Zelda: a Link to the Past (with just a bit of Dark Cloud mixed into this version) and is set in a mix between traditional spaghetti westerns, Trigun, and Castlevania. The twist is that you have to go outside and expose the solar sensor on the cartridge to real sunlight to refill your magic meter, "purify" bosses, forge weapons, and solve puzzles. This actually work really well and leads to an unorthodox mixture of video games and fresh air. The only problem is that it was released so close to winter that I am running out of time to fully enjoy it and might have to put it away until spring next year.
