Iron Man and the Avengers are a a series of Marvel Movies surrounding the life and times of Marvel's Avenger superhero team. In movie canon, Tony is the brilliant but arrogant CEO of Stark Industries, and is sitting pretty at the top of the world when he is kidnapped while doing a weapons demonstration in Afghanistan. After having an electromagnet implanted in his chest to keep him alive, he and a fellow captive create the Mark I armour so that he can escape, but all is not well when he returns home. Having found out that his weapons are in the hands of the terrorists he created them to combat, he vows to turn over a new leaf, and tear down his own legacy.
In this, Tony was born Natasha Antonia Stark, and much stays the same... And much doesn't. Her rise to prominence is much rockier, as she fights against misogyny and prejudice to prove herself just as brilliant as her father, the man who's shadow she can never get out of. It's harder to be Queen of Stark Industries than it is to be King, and when everything comes crashing down in Afghanistan, she hits rock bottom harder and faster than her male counterpart. Even the aftermath of her escape, and the fight to keep her company and creation is harder, as she fights society to prove that she's not the Stark princess anymore-- She is Iron Man, and she will not be denied.
