If a man was really innocent...
I would think that an innocent man would have no fear of going to court. In fact, he might even say, "Let's settle this in court!" -- confident that the justice system is going to clear his name.
So if a man seeks to avoid a court date, and in fact seems to be desperately seeking to block a court case by any means, what does that say about him?
(a) He believes the courts are rigged.
(b) He has other dirty laundry that might come out.
(c) He is not innocent.
