I know I haven't posted anything in over a week. I am still trying to process and come to terms with all this stuff in my head. It's hard. I have had such an AMAZING outpouring of love and support though. You guys are just so incredible, it makes me cry, but in a good way ( Read more... )

*hugs* That's so rough and so, so frustrating. Does she not get the progressive nature of the disease?? And... gah, "you're not following up with dr, so you must be fine" nonsense. What is this, some sort of pay wall preventing people from getting access to disability and health insurance? Also, deli work is awfully specific. And are there really that many deli jobs available for people where you live?

Also, as a word of caution, I have heard of instances where insurance companies have used social media activity to decline or change their decisions. If you're appealing you might want to lock down your LJ so that no one other than you friends can see, and same for Facebook. Your posts about books and sewing might raise eyebrows for people looking for any reason at all to decline you, especially if this judge thinks that book reading = good concentration skills.

The deli work is based on my past work experiences and job skills and out of all my "skills" that is the one job she thinks I can do. Nevermind that it involves being on my feet 8 or more hours a day, even though my Doctor said that I can't do that.
I can't afford insurance and I don't qualify for any of the programs here because I am not a drug addict, I am not pregnant I dont have kids I am not in an abusive relationship etc. Believe me, I've been trying. I have one plan that covers a bunch of it, but only certain doctors and not the rheumatologist.

It seems like such a broken system. If you need insurance to see a doctor to get evaluated, but you can't afford insurance or a doctor... it sounds like you basically you need to be independently wealthy to get on disability in the first place. And why the fuck are judges making these decisions? Judges know laws, not medicine.

Have you heard back from the lawyer?
