Yesterday is history And history is miles away
So, leave it all behind you
But let it always remind you of the day
The day that love made historyA lot of things are being said about history being made today so it made me think of this song. And that day my friends, is the day that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. And that love is ( Read more... )

I don't know if you ever saw the movie "Evan Almighty" (you really should though ... good movie), but something in your post made me remember a quote from the movie, where Evan's wife is complaining to God (well, she doesn't realize he's God of course ... she just thinks he's a fast food guy) about how this isn't what she wanted in life. Morgan Freeman, who does an awesome job of playing a wise, yet somehow impish God, replies:

"lemme ask you something ...if someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience, or does He give them the opportunity to be patient?

if they prayed for courage, does God give them courage, or does He give them the opportunity to be courageous?

if someone prayed for their family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm, fuzzy feelings or does He give them opportunities to love each other?"

I know that isn't specifically from the Bible or anything, but I love the interpretation. I love the idea that God isn't just all about fixing things for you, or just taking you by the hand and doing it all for you, but rather helps us and guides us by allowing us the opportunity to grow through both our successes and our mistakes ... something about that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Oh, absolutely! I've seen references to that same type of concept before too and now I wish I can think of where from lol. But yeah, I definitely believe that is true.
Never seen the movie though, that's the one with Steve Carrel right? I've seen the one with Jim Carrey, Bruce Almighty right?
I pray that this election is one of those opportunities! Regardless of how things go from here in this nation and in the world, we can still prevail, because the victory is already won by Christ! ;)
