[Scraping, and then Chromie's voice, understandable to all. She has practice speaking Common with a different-shaped mouth, after all.]

-got it working? Oh! There's the light!

Ah...

[There's a pause here. Evidently she hadn't actually thought of what she wanted to say before turning her communicator on.]I appear to be a ...small ungulate. Yes. I ( Read more... )

Well I- might need someone to open my door. It seems to have gotten very large all of a sudden. Are you affected?

[It swings open soundlessly, but beyond is not a room so much as a vast sandstone cavern. The floor between the stalagmites is sand that flows in patterns without any discernable wind, like iron shavings under a magnet. The only furniture seems to be the vast, impossible, multichambered hourglass hovering over a still pool of water and flowing without apparent regard for gravity.

Also, there's a little fluffy pudu nosing a communicator along the ground towards the door and ruining the sand patterns with little hoofprints.]

[She giggles wearily at the question.]

Oh, I wish. I did try, you know.

[She pushes the communicator almost up to the hearth.]

Ohh... I'm not going to be able to get this up the stairs, am I? This is why I think thumbs are better than anything. Thumbs and... limbs that aren't used for walking on.

[So sad. She misses her gnome thumbs.]
