"Watching a Zombie concert is like seeing everydrop of ink coming to life in a tattoo parlor... Frank Zappa once told me, 'It's simply this. Either you get it or you don't.' Rob gets it.
To be able to balance lyrics, sonics, visuals, humor, horror, and make it work? Few can do that.
He has the uncanny ability to write musically clever hooks like 'Living Dead Girl' and 'Never Gonna Stop' with a heavy handed industrial bottom which few others can match. Anyone that would evern think about writing a song about Herman Munster's racing car 'Dragula' is allright in my book.
Rob is a true rock monster. There aren't many of us left. So shut off the lights, light a candle, turn up the volume, and be prepared to travel into the nightmare that is Rob Zombie."
--Alice Cooper, July 2003
That quote from Alice Cooper about Rob Zombie is printed inside the case of Rob Zombie's newest album "Past, Present, and Future." I really feel that there is no better way to describe him. I have been a fan of Rob's for many years. I own every cd from La Sexorcisto to this new one. His music has never failed to blow me away, both live and recorded. He is no doubt my favorite artist to see in concert. He doesn't only create great music. A Rob Zombie show is an experience that will change you. I know it has changed me every time.
That's why him putting out a greatest hits album scares me. It makes me wonder is he done making music? As of now, he says he's on "Hiatus" for his directing career. While I believe he is a great director, I think even more that he is a musical genius. I guess I'll just have to see what the future holds.
On a side note, it is a great collection of his hits and everyone should go buy it!
