Hector pinches the bridge of his nose, staring at the floor of the Prospero and Michael Scott Memorial Library. Having commandeered the floor of the main building and shoved everything into the stacks, he and Wyn have drawn five concentric circles on the floor (with different colors of ribbon carefully taped to the floor, despite Wyn's enthusiastic ( Read more... )

After a couple days of sleeping at a corner of Hawk's and spending his waking hours walking aimlessly around the bar, Shchel finally makes his way to the library, stepping in somewhat timidly and looking around with unconcealed awe. Piroro flits around his head, fully awake and looking kind of twitchy.

"Are you sure, are you really sure - oh may the Fairy Goddess allow us to go back!!" she twitches some more. "I swear, half the time this place bores me, the other half - it terrifies me! The aura that guy we saw had, Shchel if you could feel it"Yes, yes, I saw the guy, and you've told me all about him already," sighed Shchel, with the long-suffering look of someone who has had to sit a blabbering child for hours. "And mister Spellman was very knowledgeable about magic - you really should have listened to our conversation ( ... )

"Hey, Shchel! Um, please try not to step on the circle that took us forever thanks very much!" she says hastily, anticipating Hex's reaction to Shchel's rush.

"I am going to go ahead and take over the role of explaining things, because I am much better at it than Hex." she continued decisively. "There's a little path set up for you to get to the center of the circle over there. Go ahead and get inside, nothing's going to happen yet."

"Hello." Hector says, completely prepared to fix the circle if necessary (though Wyn managed to forestall that, at least). "Are you ready?"

He nods a little tremulously, walking through the little path, eyes tracing the circles and the salt in fascination. Piroro flies around even more energetically before finally settling onto his head, but, for a change, she has a huge grin.

"I've heard of these! They're rune wheels! Shchel, they use these in Sforzando!" she holds her hands in an almost prayer. "Finally, finally an honest to good way home!" She turns to Hex. "Whatever I said about you, I take it back!"

Once in the center of the circle, Shchel turns on his feet to face Hex and Wyn. His face is flushed, and he seems to be moved beyond words.

Wyn follows Shchel through the path, stopping at the fifth, inner ring of bright fuchsia ribbon. "Hold that end for me, please?" she asks, offering Shchel one end of a spool of copper wire. As usual, she's resorting to professionalism in an effort to avoid awkward emotional moments.

"It's going to be okay." she says finally, giving the boy a sympathetic look.

[ooc: aaaaaaand I am going to have to leave you here for the night! I"m sorry, and I can pick back up in the morning!]

He nods quite pathetically at her words, holding the copper wire dutifully (with both hands, just in case!), but by now he's really leaking all over his face.

"You know, I'll be learning magic in a magical place..." he say rather temblorously, his voice quite nasal. "I'll probably be back to visit sometime soon!"

[OOC: It's alright - I should have gone to bed at least an hour ago XD;; see you in the morning!]

Tiwa decides to speak now since this is hard to watch and says brightly,

"Course you will, it'll all be good as gold and you'll be showing us tricks. Wyn, if I fly over and give him a hanky, will that mess anything up?"

(OOC: I hope you don't mind, seemed a good point for her.)

He nods to Tiwa, sniffling.

"Nah, go ahead. Just don't mess up the salt." Wyn says distractedly, busy wrapping the copper wire around one of Shchel's wrists.

"That's a targeting thing, it's just to make sure that we know you've gotten home safely." she continues, lapsing into her 'I am an IT Professional, please trust me even though I am panicking a bit' voice. "There's also going to be a bit of a light-show, 'cause all that stuff on the ground is going to turn into light. Well, I say turn into light, but it's really going to just transfer the matter into energy and- you know what, for the sake of simplicity it's going to turn into light. It's going to be bright, okay?"

So Tiwa pulls a handkerchief from her pocket and sets it down before ducking under the table and turning into a bird.

She then picks up the cloth and flies quickly over everything before settling on Shchel's shoulder so he can take the handkerchief.

Quickly she sings a few reassuring notes and gives him hair a friendly tug, she won't leave just yet.

Hector sighs as Wyn starts to explain things once more, standing up and riffling through the pages of an unnamed book until he finds the place he wants. "If it isn't too luch trouble for everyone, could we get started?" he snaps, slightly louder than he'd meant.

Quickly Tiwa flies off of Shchel and settles back on the table, hopping under so she can change back and watch,

"I'm out of the way, no need to get snippy."

Shchel looks up in surprise as Tiwa turns into a bird, but takes the kerchief with a smile, wiping his eyes with a free hand and blowing his nose rather pathetically. Piroro just glares at her with beady jealous eyes, but says nothing - it may be her way of appreciating the gesture, who knows.

He also nods to Wyn's explanation, looking around himself at the salt scribbles with renewed interest. Would he be learning stuff like that? It sounded all so interesting and magical.

He's still feeling a little too moved to speak, though.

Hector begins to tape the circles shut as Wyn skips out with a little wave to Shchel. "Those don't actually mean anything." he says, noting Shchel's interest in the salt. "They're physical representations of magic itself, sort of like the ribbons are stand-ins for the circles of containment." [So don't try to do this at home, because it won't work.] he continues in his mind.

After taping the final turquoise circle closed, he straightens up and moves the book into one hand. "Is everyone ready? You've said goodbye or whatever it is you need to do?"

Shchel "oh"s in understanding. He really had been thinking about trying it at home... though he was almost sure he'd forget the shape of the squiggles eventually. The explanation had sounded esoteric enough that it put him off trying. He just didn't know enough to do it right.

"Um," he says, as Hector steps out of the circles. "You three are the only ones I've talked to in here, everyone else is... kind of intimidating," he confessed. "So... you three are the only ones I have to say goodbye to," he smiles.

"So... see you." he says instead.
