Sony Pictures is gunning for another "21 Jump Street," closing a deal with Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall to develop a treatment for a sequel that Bacall has signed on to write.

While negotiations have not yet begun, Hill and co-star Channing Tatum are expected to return, not only in front of the camera, but also as exec producers. Producer Neal Moritz is also likely to return.

Bacall and Hill collaborated on the story for the first film, which opens today.

Based on the 1980s cop series starring Johnny Depp, "21 Jump Street" has earned an impressive 88% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes and is on track to earn $30 million-plus for the weekend. B.O. analysts warn that the pic could hold strong leading up to next weekend's "Hunger Games" based on word of mouth.

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the R-rated comedy co-stars Ice Cube, Dave Franco, Brie Larson and Rob Riggle.

Bacall, who wrote "Project X" for Warner Bros. and is also penning the sequel, is repped by WME and attorney Jeff Shumway.

Hill is also repped by WME, while Tatum is repped by UTA and Management 360.
