I actually was going to stop spamming for a bit, but Elizabeth just reminded me... I'm turning over the keys for this place in a little over a week, so whatever you do, nobody mail anything to this address anymore! If anyone who had the old address wants the new one, drop me an email or a comment or something and I'll hook ya up ( Read more... )

Because that is the ONE THING we do well. :D

Also, very nice tea. ;-P (But seriously. To the best of my knowledge, there is straight-up no equivalent to panel shows either here or in the States. We'd be awful at it, but that certainly hasn't stopped us from copying American formats in the past!)

<3 I don't know why nowhere else has comedy panel shows. I think perhaps we're just so uptight that we need a quiz before we can talk funny/.

Man, we'll keep churning out the madness over here if you guys keep mocking it with that particular charming ferocity. *is entirely won over by You Have Been Watching*

This is going to sound ridiculous, but I still can't figure out how to comfortably listen to radio programs. WHAT DOES ONE DO WITH THEIR EYES? X-D

Charlie Brooker is a genius. Have I Got News For You can be a bit injokey, and I don't know how you take to Mock The Week, but ... hah. As an addict of panel shows, I can tell you we have/had a LOT.

They Think It's All Over (Sports)
It's Only TV But I Like It (TV)
Have I Got News For You (Current affairs)
Never Mind The Buzzcocks (Pop Music)
The Staying-in Show (Gay Culture)
Streetwise Sudoku (Trivia to do with numbers)
You Have Been Watching (TV)
The News Quiz (Current affairs, radio)
Would I Lie To You (Lies)
QI (Trivia)
8 Out of Ten Cats (Pop Culture Trivia)

... that's off the top of my head. Some of those are from the 90s, but most of them are current. Some of them have been going SINCE the early 90s. If HIGNFY was a person it'd be old enough to vote. We are OBSESSED with comedy panel quizzes in this country. And I know there's one on BBC4 to do with words but I can't remember the name, and there was one about art history on there once too, if I didn't just hallucinate that.

Ahhhhh, this is so not the sort of list you ought to be giving me while I'm supposed to be studying! (I saw someone had uploaded some episodes of the 8 Out of 10 Cats on YouTube and was intrigued at the name. *g*)

There's also What the Dickens on Sky Arts. Comedy panel show about culture and the arts, which is in the running for Britishest Thing Ever.
