So, Chlare accidentally nudged my brain in a Giles-ward direction, and I got to thinking. If some people are hesitant to ship Giles and Buffy because of the age difference (as opposed to something about their relationship as Slayer and Watcher*) then why isn't Buffy/Angel not squickiness squared? Or Buffy and Spike, for that matter

If you don't find Giles/House/whomever attractive, then they're going to be harder for a person to ship.
But is that actually about age, or just attractiveness? I probably wouldn't ship Warren with anyone... although god knows they give us enough ammunition for him and Andrew... because I just don't find the guy very pretty. And yet, minimal age difference.
See now, I've read some absolutely smokin' Buffy/Giles. But upon reflection, the one I'm thinking of was set in the later seasons, when there wasn't necessarily such a familial (is that the right word? O_o) bond there. *ponders*
Love the innocence-factor idea. I think that makes a lot of sense too. (There's also less of a gap in years between Chase and House. Chase is... between 26 and 30, according to various episodes, and House is, what? Late 40s? So like you said, might also be a bit dependent on the age amd experience of the younger character... *ponders waaay too much*)
Nah, that totally made sense and gave me way more factors to think about! :-D
