sarah is 100% right on all counts. Her advice on how to handle talking about why you left your last job especially - vague is good! and TEMP AGENCIES, yes yes yes. (I had no idea about the ones for specifics fields, but that sounds amazing.) I know it's hard to get yourself pumped and focused when you're down, but it sounds like you didn't like your job in the first place, so maybe maybe in some tiny way, this happening is a good shove to do something new and different!
and yes, what Sarah said about bills and creditors - CALL THEM. Student loan people just want you to TALK to them. And putting loans on forbearance is not a bad thing - I did it almost continually for about five years in my late 20s/early 30s. Credit cards can be a little more difficult, but TALK to them - call them, explain the situation, and come up with the smallest amount you can pay.
and you've already made the HUGE step of roommate/cheaper apartment - you put yourself in a good position, and yes, it's a whole lot harder now, but you're starting off from a much better place than you would have if this had happened three months ago!
