"Hey Phi!" Ripp yelled, "Are you sure it’s up here? Where? Huh? What did you say? I don’t see it. Trunk? Which trunk? Oh you mean this one?”
He opened one of the side drawers and rifled through the pile of clothes he found inside.
"Weird… Was your aunt some kind of actress or something? I remember she was like some sort of professional party guest or some shit, but you never said-"
"I can’t hear you down here, Ripp! Just keep looking.”
Ripp examined the selection of costumes, stopping momentarily when he caught a glimpse of a familiar green uniform. Wow! Olive even had a military officer costume, he thought. Ripp’s hand paused on it for a moment before he pushed it aside. He’d seen more than enough of those for one lifetime.
He continued searching aimlessly through the drawer, very nearly uncovering an all too familiar dress, but he quickly caught a glimpse of something more interesting. “Why hello there…” It was one of those skimpy maid’s uniforms, just like the one Kaylynn Langerak wore on Pleasant View. Like the one Genesis used to wear.
"Hey Phi!" He called out, "What was your dress size again?"
“Still can’t hear you!”
Ripp wadded up the dress in an attempt to stuff it into his back pocket, and then headed back downstairs from the attic. His original purpose had been quickly forgotten.
Notes: I think it was pixelcurious who originally noticed some hint of Olive's secret collection of service sim uniforms and various other familiar outfits (like Lyla's dress), back when she was first playing Strangetown. Her Ophelia aged up to adult on the lot and transitioned into the maid uniform. I'm not sure if anyone fully investigated it at the time, but I've had that vague idea in my head ever since, so I recently decided to check it out (and the results are in the post linked above). Olive's mysterious backstory is one of the most detailed and fascinating (and creepy!) things in the entire series, and this little detail adds so much to that. She even has a social worker's uniform! Her keeping mementos of the sims in her graveyard certainly works well with the interpretation that she killed them.
This scene isn't from one of the upcoming chapters, but I'll probably use it in a chapter at some point. The collection of outfits will likely be one of the keys to revealing the truth about Olive if and when it does surface (and let's face it, we all know it eventually will).
