Maxis Taste Dare No. 26

Is anyone else thinking about participating in Maxis Taste Dare No. 26: Second Chances? The idea of this one appeals to me, though I'm struggling with who to focus on. My recent playing of the entire uberhood has given pretty much everyone a chance, though I guess the point of the exercise would be to find something more to like in a character that ( Read more... )

Yeah, that's exactly where I am with it. And haha! I forgot about Trent. Again, he's like Gunnar. I find him pretty unbearable as a character if you take your cues from his wardrobe (all Xtreme sports and such) but I enjoy playing him that way. I like most sims as they are, even the negative things. And with Trent, like most sims, I've played him quite a bit.

I don't actively dislike Ajay either (well I don't really like the look of Face One on males in general, but other than that...), but I don't see him as having any sort of major story relevance or anything really special going on. He's just sort of forgettable to me.

In S,HWC, I tried to jazz him up with crazy curly hair and glasses and he's a lawyer (so will likely find some story purpose in that career), and I see him as having some sort of Aboriginal background, most likely (the Curiouses, too). So in that sense, I think I've already given him a pretty good chance to be interesting. I suppose it could be fun to play around with him again, though.

That's too bad that you can't pop a window or two in there. Can you at least change the style of the windows? There's some good weird lots in Strangetown that would be fun to work with, like that one with the little tunnel down the middle. And funny, it's the one I always put Ajay in (again, to make it more interesting for me). I think Nervous lived there once, also.

I found having Trent's lifestyle backfiring on him was very satisfying... :D Now I feel kinda sorry for him!

That's right, I'd almost forgotten about your Ajay (you'll have to forgive me, it's been while since I read your older chapters). I like the idea of him and the Curiouses having an Aboriginal background, their look sort of fits. Well... not Vidcund and Jenny, but, yeah.

Ooh, I've made over that weird house in Strangetown at least twice. But I never posted them, apparently. I take like fifteen bazillion pictures of my game and only like five of them end up on my journal, it seems. :P Never tried making it over without changing the inside walls, though... It'd fit Nervous, I think!

The little yellow house in Strangetown is Ajay's house, to me. I always move him in there. Funny, that. The Singles I've sometimes moved into the weird "tunnel" house, sometimes into that empty lot (and built 'em a house). Anyway, better stop before I start telling you where I like to put all the other bin families. :P

How was it his lifestyle backfired on him again? He was cheating, right? Or maybe I'm confusing him with my own game, where both of the Travellers have had their moments of infidelity, but remain pretty secure in their marriage. Maybe they have some kind of don't ask, don't tell policy? :P

I know people who have official native status that have blond hair and blue eyes, actually, so it's possible. For the Curiouses, I always imagine Kitty is not native, but Glarn and Glabe are. As far as what native group they are, I feel it's sort of ambiguous. The sims universe isn't exactly the same as ours, so I view those cultures actually included in the game as more of a vague parallel.

I often put the Singles in that house, eve though it's not really big enough. They don't really have an ideal location to live in Strangetown.

Haha! No please, tell me more. :P I tend to like to blab away about my own preferences for those smae things, so it's fair game around here.

Their plane crashed and he got himself and his family stranded on an island. :) Alexandra's island, as it so happens. And Trisha is NOT happy about it...

Previously I've had him cheat, or Trisha cheat, or both cheat, and sometimes break up. The first time I played them in the old megahood I think I drowned Trent in a pool... after he had a really ugly kid with Brandi Broke. I did a lot of silly things in that megahood. :P

Interesting. But yeah, I agree about Kitty and Glarn (and Glabe :)). I don't really do much with different cultures in the game, beyond names and, well, Takemizu Village. I kind of see sims as not being as concerned with these things as us humans are, just like they're (mostly) less sexist.

There really isn't a good place for the Singles in Strangetown, no. I've had to remodel that house a lot in order to fit them in there, but it's doable. I once built four, small bedrooms - two on each side - then put the kitchen in one of the front "corners", the bathroom in the other, and the living and dining area in the middle, with a ladder going up to the roof. Very little space to move around, but it worked. :)

Haha. Well... I think I'll leave the house preferences for another time, I feel like I'm already rambling on too much. :)
