Dancing on love lights and energy currents
The music takes hold of my soul
The skies, swiming before my eyes
Glitter bright on a backdrop of coal
All I see, all is me,
Belonging to the great mystery
An ever changing part of the whole.
Bodies dancing with minds, all as one
Creating, in a distant galaxy, a future sun
With the force of energy, miraculously
And with vibrations of sound jumping around
Saturating the air to mingle a while there
Beginning up high, thin, and slow, and cold
Melting down to behold the fierce and the bold
In incandescent undulations which ripple through
An atmosphere of white and gray and black and blue
To crash into the quiet, subdued rays of night
And stain the star-draped sky with such a sight
Colors displayed in waves and dripping down
Down to balance upon the nose of a solitary clown
Juggling fire to the beat of the wet, wet air
Dancing with existence here, there, and everywhere
I wanted to have some time to actually write about all the crazy and exciting happenings of my life but then I started writing poetry...oh well, at least I'm writing. I do want to AT LEAST get this out though:
About a month ago, I went to this amazing party way way up north in the woods of Maine in this absolutely incredible field in the middle of no where COVERED in dandelions that were about half bright bright yellow and half changed over into white puffballs of happiness and love! There was a cute cute cute cute kitten and some wonderful pup pups around as well and many many amazing and like-minded humans. I had the absolute time of my life and it all came at a perfect time as it started out what we hope to be the greatest summer we've ever had! I had a very cleansing experience running through the fields and smoking in the woods and pretending to be wild animals in the long grasses. There was an epic bonfire and the sky was amazing all day and all night. This party was held by my friend Eli for his birthday and he is part of the fire spinning collective that I am now part of as well so there were many, many fire spinners spinning throughout the night. I practiced for a while with non-fire implements until I finally was convinced by Eli to light for the first time and at 3:30 in the morning I DID! It was a life-changing experience in so many ways and came at such a vital time in my life. It was revealing and empowering in a way I can't even begin to explain in words. I am completely and utterly addicted and can't wait to make my own set of poi! I have been spinning since then with the collective in Tommy's Park in downtown Portland on Friday nights for the general public and it is such incredible fun!
YESTERDAY, was the Old Port Fest, which went fantastically! The weather was kinda dreary but there were a ton of people there anyway and we all had a really great time. I ended up speed-walking around town balancing a two liter bottle half full of water on my head and passed by a band playing bluegrass music and instantly without any control over it my body broke out into a jig and the bottle fell off my head. It was then that I got the idea to try to dance for real with the bottle balanced on my head. I practiced a little while I was walking around town and then started doing it behind our vending tent to the music that was playing at the WCLZ stage and got a little better. I was having so much fun and trying to ignore all the people gawking at me and taking photos so I could concentrate but the better I got the more I could interact with the crowd and a few people even came up to me and asked me where the tip jar was. That got me thinking...why not try? So I put a tip cup out and made $15 in a little under an hour of dancing! It was really hard work but I would have been doing it whether or not people were paying me anyway because it was such a fun challenge and I got really good at it really quickly. What a fun day! Now I've decided that I want to figure out how to make the equivalent of that with some type of light-weight non-flammable container with water in it and 3 points of kevlar wicking maybe more around it on short poles or something like that to balance and dance with while it is on fire. OH MAN sounds like so much fun!
Now I ABSOLUTELY have to stop being online! *slaps self on hand*
