Happy Birthday to your mom, although i'm curious as to why you were fired in the first place?

they can fire you for refusing a trip, which i did last saturday to attend my friend's mother's funeral in oklahoma monday. i was supposed to be off monday but they wanted to send me to scotland and move my day off to tuesday. i told them i couldn't, assuming someone would be understanding of the situation i was in, especially since they had other reserves on call.

i was wrong.

if it had been a relative (immediate family) i could have called in before they called me and asked for emergency bereavement leave. then they would have given me four days off and positive space tickets round trip.

alas, this was a different case. to them, anyway - it was still important to me to be there.
