I finally understand people who are afraid of dogs.

If you get bit or mauled by a dog when you are little or maybe when you are not little, not a little bite, a big bite that breaks skin and bleeds and you probably will need stitches for, it makes sense to be afraid of dogs. It does not matter what kind of dog the dog is. When you look at the dog on some level the person who is afraid of dogs still sees their own blood and fear. If the person who is afraid of dogs looks and sees the potential for more biting and mauling, it is because they know the dog is capable. Any dog can bite. Look at its mouth. It does not matter if the dog would bite, that is not the question, and there is no question the dog can bite. The person who is afraid of dogs sees the can and not the would. They do not want to be bitten again and they know now that in the world every dog can bite. There is no special line between bitten and not-bitten but knowledge. They look carefully to see if there is any aggression, anything at all that can be read as a sign, I will bite you. I can bite you. And they avoid it at all costs.
