That's so exciting! What are you going to study at Uni?

We're moving on August 1st too so we may have to fight for friends to help us both move...meh, I'm sure we can come to some sort of amicable agreement. ;)
Are you helping out Ian this Sunday? (i.e. Do we get to hang out?)

Names are a way of inventing oneself, and a true name can bring out a part of you that has been hidden. I remember when people started to call me 'sa, it was strangely revelatory. It's the sort of thing that shouldn't make any difference (a rose is a rose is a rose, etc) but somehow does. Funny that we have the same name.

Majoring in English. If I do well this year I can get transferred into the Honours Programme and (hopefully) complete a Major/Minor or Double Major.

I have a couple people who have already agreed to help me move, so we won't need to fight over our friends. ;) I will be working on Sunday, however, so I won't be able to help out. I do want to hang out with you soon, though. Mayhaps we can hook up for tea some afternoon/evening. Hmmm?

It's the sort of thing that shouldn't make any difference... And yet it does so to a rather significant extent, I think. We intuitively and unconsciously attribute certain qualities to particular names. Would you name your son Mac if you intended him to be a successful business man? What's the first adjective that springs to mind when you hear the name Dora? Parents who want their children to be creative, individualistic, unique, give their children uncommon names. The reverse is also true ( ... )

I've wondered much the same thing, but I've come to peace with my name. I like my middle name too--Louise.

I did English at University too.

We should get together for tea sometime.
