This weekend was nothing short of awesome, granted i didnt do much.
Friday, worked till 5ish, went bowling and etcetc.
Saturday started out with about 4 hours of sleep, a small drive to life university for the Lorwyn Pre-release, and started 2 headed giant events. Unfortunately they didnt like the first team name, for some of the old friends it was "Helen Keller Karate Explosion". So we went with Car Ramrod. Yet unfortunately our picks werent as great as everyone else. Traded, got stuff, etc.
Then...probably the best show ive seen all year...horse the band and between the buried and me. Horse played their usual set, which was good because since A Natural Death came out, I figured they would be one of those bands that would promote their new cd and play a bunch of tracks off of it. When quite frankly, the CD aint all that good. Murder, Birdo, Million Exploding Suns, Taken by Vultures, New York City, House of Boo, Bunnies, Cutsman. Man im lame. Set got cut short due to btbam.
As simply as I can put this...Between the Buried and Me completely metled my balls. Its been so long since they have put on a set that I wasnt disapointed with. To be exact, it was their first set, right when Alaska was going to come out. They played all the good songs from The Silent Circus, and Shavnel Cut a Flip + Alaska. Since then its been decent Alaska songs, but none of the big ones. ANYWAYS
THEY PLAYED THE ENTIRE COLORS CD FROM START TO FINISH!!!! EPIC.
Sunday, get a phone call at like...10. "Russ McCoy". I have 19 seconds to decide whether or not I want to answer this. Answer. Russ is going to the Gaming Pit, wants to know if I wanna go, and he'll pay for events. Shuffle out of bed, clothe myself, bathe, etc. We did a draft and 2HG. Drafted a damn good deck, but got a 1st round seed against the guy who would wind up in the finals. Like, I drafted well, but theres no way I can compete with Anaji. Good thing, Russ got to the finals too. 2HG didnt start till fucking 6, took all day to get atleast 4 teams. Anyways, to start this event off, they gave us wayyy too much product. Usually you get 1 tournament pack 3 boosters. We got 2 tournament packs, and 4 boosters. Yeah, our pulls were hella sick. BG elfs for me with the Gilt Leaf dude, Garruk, Wren's Run, and nasty black creature control. Russ gets red white weenie elemental. STOMPSTOMPSTOMP CAR RAMROD WINS.
Watched movies with Nicole and thats about the weekend.
