"You’ve abandoned me.
You’ve abandoned all of us.
We’ve forgiven you, so forgive yourself.
I have little sympathy for this divorce story.
Stand in front of the jury, with no happy ending."
Home from Montreat, and I must agree with everyone...this was one of the best conferences that I went to.
The only thing I can really think that I need to talk about is Wednesday night. Textbook Montreat conference style is Wednesday is the most powerful day. In other words, their goal is to get you to cry. Roger, the preacher, did his job well that nights worship. That night at backhome, we had a chance to talk about emotional stories that changed or effected us.
It was an open floor sharing discussion and I thought to myself, this is perfect, this would be my time, maybe I can get all of this off my chest. And I couldnt. And throughout the week I tried to open up and maybe talk about these problems. Nothing. I guess this is just something im going to have to live with.
All in all, two...only two things seperated this Montreat from the top conferences. Music & Candlelight service. Colby Logan sucks. Tried sooooooo hard to sing, they might as well put the mic up to his nose, becuase thats really what it sounded like. Secondly, the choice of songs was pathetic. Most were stupid country folk or wanna be dumb worship songs. Not those epic "oh hey, we always sing these songs at montreat" songs. Plus, the conference song was pretty bad. Now, the candlelight service, although it didnt effect me, I could see how it effected the youth. Normally at the end of the candlelight service, we are told to extinguish our candle in order (rising freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors, the adults, and graduated seniors). However, they just said "everyone extinguish your candles" and they stopped the service.
uhhhh yup. i think thats it.
