Boy it's been a loooong time since I posted here. I wonder if anyone's even checking this thing anymore?
Despite the downturn in the economy, I've managed to find a new, much better paying job. I won't name the company I'm working for, but I will say that it's a much safer job for the long run and for the short term. I feel a lot more appreciated where I am, both by my new boss and by my coworkers. They've apparently been looking to fill the position for a year now and have been getting matches of say 30% of what they were looking for. Somehow I matched up with the majority of what they were looking for. I guess for one, they wanted someone with a decent background in content management (more on that later if someone wants) but they were looking other things like a self-starter, and a good and hard worker. I also had a good friend as a reference without even knowing it.
It's interesting how things work out. I think I've usually (if not almost always or always) try to work my hardest and help those around me. This time it really helped get someone's attention, I guess. I feel sorry for that friend because I've left him behind at the old company, but he's always had an option to leave, even if he didn't feel like he did. In any case, he's always got a friend in me, and a reference should he ever need one.
