cold as betrayal

once upon a time ago in a city far away from lovers
or maybe not so far from here depends on how fast you drive
down freeways that seemingly lead to nowhere
the place in which ourstory takes its toll
our heroine wails, cries for the city to make it whole
the emptiness is raging through this town like wildfire
the anger blazes over all consuming like desire
her and the boy collided
the force took all breath from all of her
the story was to begin or was it all about to end
once upon a tear never agreeing to any fear
and they didnt tell her it would feel like this
she would break like this
or that her rage would turn to loneliness
and so upon this time became more than once
so unbearable to bear becomes unlivable existence
and the choices we come upon become impossible to make
and the desire and the smiles become impossible to face
because all the promises mumbled never made to be kept
sinking hearts into stomach full of stone
legs weighted by anchors eyes glazed like glass
heart fragile like bone
she is running but not fast enough so the death of all she belives in
is nipping at her heels and she smells the coming storm
and the ending of her heroine comes drowning in the hail
cold as betrayal
